Philosophy

We are a pebble,

On the seas,

Seeking out,

What shall never be,

Delving deeper,

Into the waters of truth,

Many new fish,

But none fix youth,

Deeper still,

The waters darken,

Getting closer,

An enclosed garden,

Any yet,

Seeking silence, we turn back,

Too afraid,

Of the water's wrath,

Mental drowning,

We are floundering,

Fingers counting,

The shore of philosophy

This is a poem I wrote after reading a particularly inspirational book. It is about how we, as humans, delve further into the waters of exploration, only to swim and swim, to get closer and closer, and stop. For we fear drowning, we are too scared to go on, and uncover lost secrets beneath the sand. Because we fear delving too deep into secrets lost in time, we come up to the surface. Enlightenment is only a moment away for these people, who choose to delve into deeper waters. Enlightenment, is only a moment away, for philosophers.
