{Julia's Perspective} ~ Monday ~
I was in the middle of brushing my fingers through my flaming red hair when I heard my mom from the kitchen. "Julia!!!! Sweetie!!! Percy's here!!!!"
Crap it. He was here already?! I glimpsed at the clock. 7:20 am. I was going to be late for school. I dropped my hairbrush and rushed over to the kitchen, grabbing a granola bar from the counter. I scurried over to the refrigerator and opened it, the first thing in sight being a jug of orange juice. Chugging it down quickly, my mother scowled at me with a 'you-know-better-than-to-drink-straight-from-the-jug' face. I shrugged in apology and scooted out the house.
I saw Percy standing beside our mailbox, his iPhone out. "Hay Perce!!!" I said, out of breath. But he must have not heard me because I suddenly noticed that he was on the phone with someone. Deciding it would be hilarious to see him scared, I creeped up behind him, ready to grab his shoulders. However, something he said on the phone made my neck prickle with sweat.
"Yea of course I like her." Percy whispered into the phone
I heard a mumble on the other line.
"Well...she's like all pretty...smart...and my bestfriend."
There was no way he was talking about me. Only one other possibility remained. He had another best friend. I gasped a little too loud. Percy whipped around, his face turning into a sick, pale, porridge color.
"J-J-Julia?!?" He stuttered. "Erm, I...I.."
I interrupted him, "So, A NEW BEST FRIEND HUH PERCY?!?!?" I screeched. "WHAT HAPPENED TO US BEING BEST FRIENDS??" I yelled, tears starting to flood my face.
{Percy's Perspective}
Her face started to glimmer in the sunlight, a sign that tears were silently streaming down her face. Apparently, she didn't understand that SHE was the best friend I liked. But I didn't know what else to do. If I told her it was her that I was talking about over the phone, things would get awkward between us which is the last thing I needed. If I told her that I was talking about somebody else that was my best friend, she would hate me.
"I....Ju..." I said, stumbling over each word.
"No! I get it. I'm not your bestfriend." She muttered and with that, she took off, walking towards our school, not even waiting for the bus to get there.
