Mace, Hayden, and Myself head towards the parking lot after school. "Babe, I need to get some practice in before the Cross Country meet in Salt Lake next week, do you want to come to come help me train?" "Mace, I hate running you know that love; that and I Have a reading assignment due tomorrow so I need to head home and finish it up. I'll come over to the high school and get you when I'm done." Mace looks a little disappointed, but then again shes been trying to get Hayden to join the Cross Country team for months. Ever since Hayden got kicked off the Track team at one of the prep school she was in for being as Mace says a 'Flaming Gay.' Another reason her parents kicked her out of the house. She never dressed like Mace did; you know combat boots an leather jackets. Or like any butch would dress like. No she was very feminine; dresses and flowers in her hair; kinda like a hygienic hippie was more what Hayden looked like. Because Hayden's parents left her homeless while Mace and her were first dating. Hayden now lives with Mace and her parents. Mace's Parents are almost like hippies; very free, loving and believe love should not be confined. Which is good because they have one gay daughter; but they love her even more since she had the courage to tell them how she felt about girls. But back to Hayden, ever since the girls she called her friends; treated her so bad she vowed to never do track, or any time of sport again. She was never going to let her 'team' turn on her. Even when Pine View High School loves her and her 'Flaming Gayness.' "You'll get back on the track team if its the last thing I Do Hayden Amorette Alexandria Stratton... McConnors." Hayden is now blushing. I can see those two getting married soon; most likely after graduation. Mace does a one eighty and heads to the track. "She sure does love you Hayderbug... I really want to find someone like that." She rolls her eyes at the nickname I've given her but then her face softens. "You know I didn't go looking for her, she kinda just found me. She made me feel different then anyone had ever made me feel in my life... I've dated guys before, but when I met her... Magic." Hayden was almost in a haze with how she described her love for Mason. "Maybe I should ask O'Connors on a date huh?" I ask Hayden; who is still too trapped in her haze to answer. "Need a ride Hayderbug?" "No Mom and Dad let me and Mason take her car." Looks like I'll be riding home alone again. Hayden and I part ways, she to her car right next to the Seminary building, and mine in the middle of the high school senior parking lot. I Turn around to head to my truck. I get to where all the kids who don't drive; wait to ride the bus. There she was... Headphones in her ears, smirking and nodding to a beat she was jamming to. I may not ask her out; but I had to apologize for plowing her over this morning. I make my way over to her  and freeze, how do I even do this? Too late she turns and hits me face first. Unlike the first time though I'm aware enough to catch her. "You alright?" I ask gently; she blinks a few times before responding "Yeah, sorry was kinda in my own world with this music of mine." she giggles. Its kinda cute. "This isn't the first time we've ran into each other... literally." She thinks for a minute, then she get the look "Oh! you're the one I ran into this morning! I'm so sorry; that damn bus won't wait for two whole minutes for me to ask a teacher a question." "So you're in ROTC?" "Yeah, I took it when I went to Hurricane High so I just knew that I'd have some friends from there. and maybe it'd be easier to transition  into this new school." So far everything Josten said was right. "So you're new to Pine View?" "Yeah I had too many troubles at Hurricane. Everyone there is either an asshole or a user." I'm being sucked into the conversation by her voice. "Well that sucks, they missed out on a really cool cat." did I really just fucking say that... Fuck! "So you're a Senior?" "no Junior" " but you were in my U.S. Gov class." "I got way ahead on my credits in Hurricane. When I moved here I decided to graduate early. That and you take classes at different years then I do. like your seniors take health, when I took health my Sophomore year." The wind blows her hair into her face; and she wasn't the happiest of campers. "Mother fucking hair... I swear to God I will just cut it all off!" "Don't it looks beautiful." I blurt out, Fuck! too much! great now shes going to think I'm a creepy pervert! Fuck! Instead she turns beat red and replies with "Well thank you, I don't think it is but thank you." How could she think shes not smoking hot... Like Damn she was so beautiful. "Oh fuck!" she yells and starts running. Well I guess she was done talking to me. "Damn it! Does no one have any fucking patients?" She turns around and looks like she is moments from crying. "Everything alright." she pauses and rapidly blinks. "Yeah, I'm fine just missed my bus again. I'll just walk." her eyes clear up, she turns around and begins walking away. What should I do? Her missing her bus is my fault; I should offer her a ride. "Hey do you want a ride?" I call after her. "No I can walk, I need the time to kinda think anyways." she chimes smile on her face. I can't let her walk home; if she rides a bus it means she live more then two miles away. "Please let me take you home; you'd have to be walking at least two miles. Besides its my fault you missed your bus; me and my jabbering." she giggles and my stomach does summer salts. Why the fuck am I acting so weird? "Well, I guess I can't argue with that logic." we walk together to the Taco; she starts to walk closer towards me. I can see Mace warming up with the track team; and she sees me with her. Her eyes are sparkling so bright I can see them from here. Mace gives me a thumbs up and a huge Cheshire cat grin; then proceeds to fall ass over teakettle off the sidewalk. "Mason; you kinda need to watch where you're going!" I shout out across the parking lot. "T watch out!" she wails across the parking lot. I look and a bright yellow mustang is speeding towards us. I grab O'Connors  by the arm and yank her backwards; she stumbles back into my arms. She lost all of her color and looks like a ghost wrapped into my arms. I don't let her go for a minute. Fucking Garrett can't drive; how the hell did he get his license? Shes shaking so hard, that I begin to shake. I put my fingers on her chin then gently pull frail face up towards me. "You okay love?" I ask; adding a bit of Hayden's British mannerism to the end of the sentence. She nods slowly; keeping eye contact. I can't stop looking into her Beautiful blue eyes. I lean in a little bit, maybe this could be the perfect moment "Get some T!" Fuck Mace! I yank my head up to see Mace and just about the whole Cross Country team staring. Even Coach Holt and Mr. Roberts are gawking while trying to move all the runners along. I hug her tight as she slowly pulls herself together. "I'm fine now, ready to go?" she almost whispers "Lets go love" I hold her close walking the rest of the parking lot and open the cab door. Giving her a gently boost up into the lifted cab. Shes staring at the truck; "Shes beautiful" just like you I wanted to blurt out; but held my tongue. "Lets go Taco!" she pauses. "Taco?" "yeah that's what we call her, because if you took the MA off of Tacoma you'd just have a taco." shes giggling again. He laugh is defiantly contagious; I'm laughing along with her. I close the passenger door and make my way to the drivers side. I hop into the truck and start her up. she growls to life, then lets down to a low purring. Her smile grows. "God shes gorgeous." she coos "wait until you hear her roar." I put the truck into reverse and back out of the senior parking lot. "Is it alright if we stop at Maverick? I need to fill up... And after the douche bag in the parking lot you look like you could something sweet." She smiles and nods in approval. We get off the school property and turn right towards 3050 East. The ride to the gas station is silent; and not that good kind of silence either. Feeling so uncomfortable finally start the conversation. "Sure that close call didn't scare the shit out of you?" great, now I called her a scared little girl. I guess this is why I normally hang out with my flock of 'Flaming Gays' rather then girls who I might find attractive. "Scared me shitless to be honest, fuck, that bright ass yellow Mustang flew around the corner." "Well the driver shouldn't have his license if you ask me." " You know the driver?" "Unfortunately I do Garrett's just a fucking ass. Who barley passed drivers Ed." we pull up to the pump and we both get out and lean against the Taco as the pump fills my gas guzzling truck full of fuel. "Want an Iccee?" I ask her "You know so we can get some color back into those rosy cheeks." she smiles at me and nods. We walk in and both grab a medium Mountain Dew Iccee. After paying we get back into the Taco. Now I have no idea where you live; so you might have to guide me." "Sounds good, You know where the rec center is?""defiantly." "I live right next to it, drive that far and I'll give you directions from there." I drive a little slower then usual, wanting her to be with me as long as possible. I was so attracted to her, for some fucking weird reason... Small talk is all that really happens from Maverick  to the Rec center. Like 'how are classes' or 'you liking Pine View so far?' just bullshit to try to get her name... Yeah I know, I save a beautiful girl from death by a yellow Mustang but still only her last name is O'Connors. "Turn right here" she points to Community Center Drive; and cruise until she says "Turn down Rocco Road and my house is on the left." We turn down Rocco and pull up to her home. Bunch of gang banger looking teenagers on the front porch. She turns to me and gives me a big hug. I quickly put the truck into park and hug back. Fuck she fits perfectly into my arms. Much to my surprise she gently kisses my cheek. Leaving fireworks in my stomach. "Hey text me" I call out as she shuts my door. She walks over to my window as I'm rolling it down. "How silly? I don't have your number." "Maybe we should swap?" I ask Coyly; Wow that sentence didn't make me sound like I'd never been on a date before. We trade phones and I add my number with Tegan Bennett in the name slot; Mustang Slayer written in the nickname margins. We swap phones back. "Tegan the Stang Slayer huh?" she giggles. "You never know when you'll need a Stang Slayer around." I joke. looking down at my phone I see she didn't add a first name. just O'Connors: Damsel in Distress in the nickname margins. "Hey I didn't catch your first name; Damsel in Distress." I call out as she walks away. "Trysten spelt with a Y not an I." I type Trysten into the first name slot. "Why the mystery with your first name?" I call out as she walks to the door of her home. "I like to keep some things a mystery, Tegan Bennett The Mustang Slayer." she winks and disappears into the house. Just as she does I get a Message from Hayden. "Dude I heard Garrett almost ran you and new girl over! you alright?" with a shocked face emoji at the end. Typical Hayden, her with those silly emoji's. I reply "Yeah, guessing Mace told you. We both are fine." send; I sit in the truck outside her house for a few more seconds waiting for Hayden's text. Ding. "Mace also told me how she spoiled you special moment with new girl... Major bummer dude, heard Holt and Roberts were both staring at you HA!" Crying from laughing to hard emoji. "Well, Tell her thanks for that. But shes way cool! we talked for a minute and I took her home." Send. Ding. "Bet you didn't even get her name you were too shy!" "I got her name!" send. Ding. "Really then? what is her name then?" "Her name is Trysten." send.
