Eternal love. That was what she promised to give them. A love so full of passion and lust, so eternal, that it would last longer than every other love story there ever had been. But there was one catch, there always is, which was that if they did anything (even one little thing) that she did not like or made a tiny bit of a mistake, then poof, with a click of her finger they'd be gone.
Her first lover didn't last for more than a minute. They'd decided to meet at an extremely expensive restaurant for their first date. It was classy, she liked it, and she couldn't wait to meet her date. She imagined that he'd be a British gentleman wearing a tuxedo and he'd be very gentle with her. He'd treat her like a queen and insist that she chose the most expensive items from the menu. He'd open the door for her, he wouldn't let her see the bill and he'd lend his hand to her when she'd want to get out of her seat. Oh, the man of her dreams. But she turned out to be wrong, oh so wrong. The man was British, sure enough, but he didn't even stand up when she approached him at their table. He simply gave her a charming smile, and that was all it took for her to click her finger. 'How rude,' she thought to herself as she flipped her hair back and sat down at their table all alone. After all, it was reserved for her, wasn't it?
The second one was just slightly better and lasted almost for a whole five minutes before she decided that she'd had enough. She didn't know where they were going this time. He'd decided to surprise her and reached her house at the perfect time, not a second early nor a second late. She was so impressed that she decided to forgive him for not holding out his hand for her. However she could not overlook it when he didn't hold the car door open for her, and just like that, he was gone too.
The next one was perfect; he was gorgeous and extremely handsome. It was like he'd just come out of a men's magazine, so she was sad to let him go. But what was she supposed to do? He refused to share her milkshake. So she irritatedly snapped her finger...and then she didn't have to think about sharing it anymore.
Finally came the last date she ever had. He was everything that she wanted him to be, and more, so she was surprised when she heard a snap of the fingers. She took a look at her own fingers and then at her date's as she realised it.
She hadn't snapped her fingers, he had. He sent an apologetic look her way as he dusted the dirt off of his clothes because he wanted the same thing that she did. The woman of his dreams.
Sighing, he stood up and went to go get ready for his next date.
