The nights were often long for Ten. As a Sleep Technologist he didn't get to sleep through the night like other people did. His husband on the other hand, slept like a baby through the night. Well, most of the time.
They have a daughter, Josie, the sweetest six year old you will ever meet. She is well loved by her uncles. She loves to play and learn during the day, but at night she seems to struggle. And that struggle keeps Johnny up at night. Johnny decided not to tell Ten because he didn't want him to worry.
"I mean, he sleeps during the day, when his daughter is most energetic. I just don't want him to worry when I don't think it's that big of a deal Doyoung." Johnny says to one of his bestfriends.
"All, I am saying is I think you should bring it up. Ten's a sleep tech and he did respiratory therapy, he should know what's wrong and be able to get her the help she needs. Johnny, snoring for kids isn't normal, especially when it's that loud. I think Ten would be more worried when he finds out for how long this has been going on. Just think about it, please?" Doyoung pleads.
"Does she still have trouble breathing through the night, choking on food?" Doyoung asked. Johnny nods his head, sighing. "Yeah, and Ten witnessed it on his day off yesterday. He asked me if she had been doing this a lot and I told him that she had. I was able to get him to not worry about it too much, but you know how Ten is. He seems like he is worriless and carefree, but deep down he worried about everything."
Johnny looks at his friend, the worry and concern in his eyes. He appreciates his friend's concern for his daughter. He really does. But he hates being told what to do when it comes to his family. He is a man, a very strong one at that, and he knows what is best for his family. At least he thinks so.
He hangs his head in his hands. He shook his head and looked up when he heard his daughter come down the stairs into the living room. "Hey baby, what's up?" "Nothing daddy, just wanted to play with you and uncle Doyoungie!" she exclaims. The older men both laugh and get up to play whatever game she wants.
Johnny gently grabs Doyoung's arm, then quietly says "please don't bring this up to him, I will tell him when he gets home in the morning okay? But for now, let's just spend time with her." Doyoung nods and proceeds to get on the floor to play monopoly with the little girl.
A few hours later when Johnny puts his daughter to bed he sets up her old baby monitor to record her snoring and so he can watch over her through the night. Normally, her snoring wouldn't bother him but recently she has started to develop a cough throughout the night and choke on foods she normally wouldn't have a problem with. So he decided he would record her troubles and show them to Ten in the morning.
At around two in the morning Johnny woke up to Josie choking and he rushed to her side. "Baby, it's okay, Daddy's here. Just breathe baby, just breathe," He soothed while reaching for his phone to dial 911.
"Yes, hello, my daughter, she's choking and I can't get her to breathe, she's turning blue and I don't know what to do. Please, send me help!" Johnny tried to stay calm, but to see his daughter turning blue and not breathing scares the shit out of him.
After loading into the ambulance with his daughter he calls his husband. He figures now is the time to tell him. He guesses he could be wrong but now is not the time to have an inner monologue about this.
"Hey babe, what's up? You know I can't be on the ph-" "Hey, I'm with Josie in an ambulance on the way to the hospital. She started choking in her sleep and I couldn't get her to stop. I don't know what's going on but she's been doing this for a while. I should've told you, I am so sorry but please don't be mad and just meet us in the ER, please" Johnny begs.
