"Steve? Hey, Steve!" Blossom called as she tried to calm down a crying Victoria. Steve poked his head out from the kitchen, and she kept rocking their daughter. He bit his lip and looked over at her, and she sighed softly.
"Babe, could you grab the teething ring for me? It's right in the freezer," she pointed, and he nodded. Ducking his head back into the kitchen, he walked back to the freezer and retrieved the cold teething ring for his screaming daughter.
"Thank you so much," Blossom sighed, taking the teething ring when it was handed to her. Gently, she set it in her daughter's mouth, and the baby stopped crying and tried to hold it. Both parents breathed a sigh of relief, and Blossom kissed her daughter's forehead.
"That's my precious girl," she whispered, and Steve wrapped his arm around his wife. She looked up at him, and he kissed her nose.
"Arm all better?" he asked, and she nodded. With a grin, he kissed her gently, then turned to kiss his daughter's head. Victoria turned and looked at her father, and she giggled softly. Steve's smile brightened as she went back to her teething ring.
"So, what's on your agenda for today?" he asked, gently taking his daughter from his wife's arms and holding her close.
"If you can keep the baby occupied, I was gonna make cupcakes today. I mean, it's a rainy day out, so we can't take our walk, and I just went to the store yesterday," she smiled, and Steve nodded. He leaned over and kissed his wife on the cheek before caring their daughter to the couch. Blossom made her way into the kitchen, leaving Steve on the couch, with Victoria.
He smiled down at her and began to rock her, keeping her teething ring from falling out when she giggled or smiled at him. As he looked at her, he felt a warming sensation in his chest. Every single day when he woke up, he felt thankful for her. Thankful that she was the one that essentially came through for them.
"Honey?" Steve called, and Blossom set down a bowl on the counter.
"Yes?" she asked, poking her head out to look at her husband.
"What do you think her first word will be?" he looked over at her, and she looked off in thought.
"I'm not sure. Maybe it'll be 'dada' or maybe even a curse word," she chuckled, and he gave her a look.
"What was your first word?" he asked, and she leaned against the wall.
"My grandmother told me it was fuck. My grandfather swore a lot. Especially around me. So, it seems plausible. If it wasn't fuck, it might have been 'Maria', but, like, with a 'w' instead of an 'r'," Blossom smiled, then went back into the kitchen.
"Hey wait, was your first word 'America'?" she called from the kitchen, a small grin on her face.
"Ha ha, very funny," he huffed, standing up with his daughter still close to his chest. He carried her into the kitchen and went to the freezer, gently taking the teething ring from Victoria. Steve set the warm teething ring back into the freezer, and Blossom looked at him.
"You sure about that?" she asked, sucking chocolate batter from her finger.
"Pretty sure," he trailed off, just looking at her.
"Get your mind out of the gutter and go occupy our daughter's tiny attention span," she pointed her finger out to the living room, and smiled.
"And of you're lucky, I'll let you have some leftover icing," she smiled, and he smiled back at her. He walked over and bent down to whisper in her ear, making her blush. Gently, she smacked his chest, making him laugh. He shifted Victoria a bit and left the room as his wife was pouring the batter into the cupcake wrappers in the muffin tray. Gently, Steve carried his daughter to her room and set Victoria in her swing, turning it on and watching it rock her back and forth, slowly lulling her to sleep.
"Sweet dreams, little one," he smiled, then made his way back to his wife. She was busy mixing together vanilla and chocolate icing together, making a nice swirl, and he wrapped his arms around her from behind.
"Looks delicious," he mumbled, kissing the top of her head. She smiled a bit and leaned back against him, making him smile.
"Please tell me we can have more kids in the future," he whispered, looking out to the living room to see their sleeping daughter.
"I dunno. Maybe," she smiled, filling up an icing holder with her chocolate vanilla swirl icing.
"I will turn that maybe into a yes if it's the last thing I do," he teased her, stealing a bit of icing from the bowl and sucking it from his finger.
"You thief," she giggled as the oven beeped.
"I'll get them. Where are the oven mitts?" he asked, and she pointed her foot to the bottom drawer next to the oven. Steve nodded and went to grab a pair before pulling the muffin tray out of the oven. He carried it over, and Blossom set up a cooling rack. Quickly and carefully, she set the cakes on the tray to cool, and he watched her.
"You do realize that you're probably the only one who'll eat those, right?" he asked, and she looked at him.
"You are having at least one. It won't go right to your thighs, you diva," she chuckled, grabbing her icing pouch. He smiled and ran a hand through his hair, chuckling as he did so.
"Fine, fine. I'll have one. And I'm using the leftover icing," he teased, watching her cheeks go pink.
"Yeah yeah yeah. Hey, give me a hand here? I need an artist's touch," she smiled, and he nodded. He moved to stand behind her, and he wrapped his arms around her, setting his hands atop hers. He guided her hands gently, and she laughed as they set the icing on each cake. When they finished, Steve instantly picked one up, peeled off the wrapper, and took a big bite.
"Mm, delicious," he hummed, then handed her a fresh one. With a small laugh, she took it from him, peeled back the wrapper, and took a bite. She nodded and licked icing from her lips, and they both finished their cupcakes. Then, with a grin and a glint in his eye, Steve picked up Blossom and set her over his shoulder, then grabbed the bowl of icing, and carried her back to their room, making her laugh and hit his back playfully.
