"Magie!" I whisper as I walk in. I was in the forest way too long. But I think I had a good reason. Random violent light emitting from you is enough to make a person insane. Good thing I'm already insane.
"Yes, my child?" Magie comes out from the back room. Her face crumples when she sees mine. Her knees collapse, and she falls into a plush chair.
"You know now. It was only a matter of time." She motions to the chair next to her.
"Your mother had it too. She came to me when you were only a babe. She told me to keep you safe, because she couldn't anymore. Your mother only thought of you. She wanted to protect you from this as long as she could." Magie inhales a shaky breath and continues.
"Your mother had strong magic. But she hoped you wouldn't have to live with the burden. She hoped that, if I raised you, your magic would stay locked inside you." Magie laughed a little and brushed at the tears spilling down her face.
"I knew you had it. You played with the dust when you were little. You nearly set the shop on fire once. It was in your blood. And now it's not locked away anymore." I sit in shock. I can't sort through the thought swirling in my head.
"Child!" Magie shouts. I look down to see the chair smoking and my hands sparking. Magie grabs my hands and the sparking stops.
"This is what I was talking about. You can't let your emotions boil. You will lose what little control you have. You can't tell anyone." She smiles and kisses my forehead.
"Sleep now, child." And the world slips into blackness.

The falls greet me with open arms. Norbert soars off my shoulder and flies into the waterfall. He dives into the pool and splashes happily. I smile and take my axe of my shoulder strap, leaving my bow and quiver there.
I climb up onto the banks of the falls. Despite all that has happened, Magie sent me out to mine the rainbow ore.
"I'm confident you can control it." She said. And she sent me out, promising that the ball dresses would be bought today. Like I care about a dress.
I thrust my axe onto the ore.
