The Brethren

Chapter 1

I was cleaning the glasses behind the bar and pouring whisky to all the drunk men around me. I wasn't really paying attention to what was going in the bar or their conversations. I had learned along time ago to tune them out or ignore it, I was thinking about how the conversation with my brother Blade was going to go when I told him I was leaving. I had gotten my acceptance letter to the University of California that morning. I had applied all over the country hoping to get as far away as I could. I new it wouldn't go well he would beg me or threaten me to stay.
My brother new I wanted to leave this place and never look back. When we were little he used to tell me I was so smart and meant for something more than the life of a bikers old lady. At that time in our lives he worshiped our father and couldn't wait till he was old enough to get a cut and take over the club. It's funny how reality will change you without you realizing it.
I eventually told him the truth about our father and he went on a rampage and killed him on the spot. When it was over we were terrified our fathers club would kill us, turned out they all knew what had happened and we're just biding their time till my brother was old enough to take the reigns. So instead of my brother inheriting the club at 21 he got it at 18. That was the day I lost my brother and the way he became so protective and fatherly over me I new even then he'd never let me leave him. He felt like he failed me and he promised me everyday since then that he would protect me. Problem was he wanted to protect me right here in the club house.
I have always dreamed of a big future for myself I was coming up with a plan to tell my brother I was leaving. I new I couldn't just run off he would burn down the world to find me. I decided I'd tell him tonight we were expecting a brother charter to pull in any minute now and I figured my best chance was to tell him when he was overwhelmed and had his hands full dealing with the visiting charter.
