Isi was looking out the window at the creature and trying to reason why, or how, it could be here much less exist. She had barely come to terms with the mental level of craziness, the voice, when the lion had showed up. Except it wasn't a lion, it was too big and albino. She knew albinos existed just not this big, and able to camouflage so well. It always took her a couple minutes to find the thing even if it was in the exact spot as the time before. She was just coming to the conclusion that the lion was quite possibly a myth come to life to come get her, when the dorm mom peeked her head into her room. You remember me mentioning Isi's high IQ? That IQ had gotten her a college scholarship very early but she had just now accepted the offer, right before her third year in high school. She was a sixteen year old in college and it felt amazing. She had classes that were higher level than some of the actual college students. She loved correcting them and seeing their expressions when she was called on a hard problem and seemed to be distracted but then answered it correctly. The thing about college that was different than other schools, especially this ivy league college, was that you could tease and mess around with people but they would still be cordial and respectful, it was probably the most amazing thing to witness in the history of the universe. The sad thing is it only happens in big, strict, extremely popular colleges, where everyone is as mature as they can get. They still have fun and tease but its taken in with appropriate attitudes, unlike some other places where ridiculously high IQs were just looked down on and bullied. It was so refreshing to switch to this college after being bullied most of her life. Anyway back to that afternoon. The dorm mom was checking for students not doing homework. They had until 11pm to finish all homework assigned that day that was due the next. Isi was usually finished by now and just had to show Ms. Scott the finished product, but lately the lion had been distracting her. She blamed it on homesickness, which was incredibly easy because it was A.) Her first year, B.) She was younger than everyone else, and C.) It was halfway through the year and there had not been a single off day or weekend for her yet when she could go home to see her family. Plus the dorm parents expected it with first years. Isi just had to adjust her gaze up to the stars, instead of down at the creature, and pretend to be tired, which was pretty easy because she had been staying up late to try to figure out the THING outside the ivy league college's wall, which she could see over from her dorm. She was able to stay up so late cause she scored an empty dorm, she didn't have to share with anyone yet. She fed the same half truth of homesickness with the dorm mom then went back to her previous thought about the lion creature thing. Her most recent conclusion, as in that moment recent, was that it was somehow the Nemean Lion from greek myths. She only knew this because she decided to take an extra weekend college course on Greek/ Roman Myths. Heracles (Hercules in roman myths) fought the gold skinned practically unkillable lion and found its weak spot (it's mouth). The only difference was this one was like a silver or white diamond version of the Nemean Lion from the myth, but that made sense. Nobody had seen the lion, because it was a myth, so how would anyone know what it looked like except for what was written. The lion, also, could've changed color as it aged, which seemed like a less reasonable explanation, because it was immortal. So with that in mind she turned her mind to why it might be there and the voice that seemed to come with it. She decided to try to figure out whose the voice was. So she asked questions. Lots of them... and got nowhere. Then she thought about the fact that the lion had shown up at the same time the voice had popped into her head. So she called out to the lion. 'Its you in my head isn't it?' 'Yes, madame.' 'Ooh! Madame I like that! But wait... this crazy!! I'm having a telepathic conversation with a mythological creature that shouldn't even exist.' 'You have much ancestry that you must learn in order to survive, moon child.' 'Oh great gods of Egypt!' 'Greece actually.' Great my lion has a sense of ridiculous humor and can be way to serious and stuck up at the same time! Isi thought. 'I heard that.' 'SERIOUSLY!!!? Is there no privacy in my own brain!?' 'Jeez. I was just messing with you. Had no idea you were so sensitive.' 'Of course I'm sensitive right now! I'm sixteen, so hormones! and I was just told I get a mythical pet LION!' 'And your a child of one of the greek gods.' 'And I'm a stupid child of a stupid greek... WOAH! WAIT!! Whaaaa?? You mean I'm a demigod?! Like Percy Jackson and Annabeth and all those other famous ones from Rick Riordan's books? I LOVED those when I was little! Still d actually, reminds me of better days at home.' 'Well technically Rick wasn't exactly lying about Percy Jackson's experiences but...' 'OK I think I'm done now. Brain officially just imploded. One last thing though. Who is my Mum or Da?' 'That, little one, is something I'm not allowed to tell you yet. I have told you way more than I had planned for this first "meeting." Now go get ready for bed, tomorrow will be a very long day indeed.' But he had lied when he said he had no more to tell me. As I was falling into an deliciously dream filled sleep he whispered one last thing. 'Look at that beautiful, bright, full moon, little one and take comfort in the fact that at the end of all this, you will find peace at last.'
