"Mom, I'll be fine, just let me go," I whined. In my defense she was getting a little clingy.
"I'm sorry honey, it's just...my only daughter...is g-going off to university." She choked, I could see her eyes start to get teary as she puled me in for one last awkward hug.
"mooom, people are watching, I'll be back for Christmas, and holidays, and stuff."
"I know, I know. Go, have fun," She pushed me up to the front doors. I heard a camera snap a few more pictures and then a car drive away. I laughed to myself, I'm really close to my mom because my dad left us when I was 2 years old. My mom has a menial job as a retail worker in the mall. I was forced to get a job at a young age to support us. I always thought I would never go to university, but when I saw the scholarship ad, I figured I might as well go for it. I made it and they even pushed me ahead one year! And I thought I was never going to amount to anything.
I push open the heavy, wooden doors, and step inside the main building. After wandering around for a little while, I find the office.
"What's your name sweetie?" The receptionist asks.
"Olivia Brown."
"Oh heavens, you must be the new scholarship winner. Come over here and grab your schedule." She motioned for me to come behind her desk. Slinging my backpack over my shoulder, I followed her.
She dug through a pile of papers and then quickly grabbed my schedule.
"Here you are hun, if you look, you are in our AP courses for science, biology, and math and I'll just call someone to give you a tour," she walked over to the PA system and looked at a sheet of names. Trailing her finger down the page, she stopped at the one at the bottom.
"Bryce Anderson, please come down to the office immediatly," Her voice rang through the loudspeakers. We had to wait a while before someone showed up. I looked up at him and he smirked. He looked like a jock with his sand coloured hair and bright green eyes, it also helped he was wearing a letterman jacket with the school colours, green and blue.
"Olivia Bryce, Bryce Olivia, Bryce please show our new student around please. "
This was going to be a long day, Bryce looked like one of those arrogant jerk type jocks.
I sighed and followed Bryce into the long hallway.
