Callie
"Hey, you wanna go to Dee's? It's a little coffee shop right on Central." I gave him a blank look, I was not very happy. "We can start to work on the project?" He smirks a bit causing a small dimple to pop up on his cheek. His forest green eyes shimmered as he spoke, and I got lost in them. I tried not to stare, but let me tell you, it was hard.
"I'm not very happy. You volunteered me to be your partner. What if I had someone else in mind?" I questioned him, crossing my arms over my chest. By now, we were walking out of the classroom and into the warm September day. The suns rays making it hard to see.
"Well did you?" He stopped walking to face me.
"No." I muttered and continued to walk.
"Great." He smiled.
"I'm still not happy." I warned, causing the little dents in his a cheeks to grow deeper.
::::
"I'll have a iced Caramel Macchiato." I said to the young male behind the counter.
"That'll be $2.15." He says pulling a receipt from the register. I handed him my cash and change and signed the receipt laying on the counter. "Your drink will be ready over there." He said pointing to the little counter. I nodded and made my way towards the boy I had met in class, who basically forced me to come to the cafe with him.
"I'm so glad you're not one of those guys who insists he pays for everything." I smiled slightly shoving the receipt into my bag.
"And I'm so glad you're not one of those girls who insists I pay for everything." I hit his chest causing him to laugh harder.
"Great, we're on the same page."
"Harry?!" The young male behind the counter said setting the iced drink on the counter.
"Thank you." Harry said to the man and grabbed the drink.
"What'd you get?" I asked patiently awaiting my drink.
"Pumpkin spice latte." He said so calmly.
"You don't strike me as the kind of guy to get a pumpkin spice latte." I giggled lightly.
"You don't strike me as the kind of girl to come to a coffee shop with a guy you met 20 minutes ago, and he doesn't even know your name." He smirked.
"You're suck a jerk." I half laughed. He sipped his drink and walked away. His smile never fading.
"Callie?" The young male said. "Have a nice day." He gave me a warm smile and I headed to the table where Harry sat. He had a notebook out with 'fear' written in pen with bold letters in the header.
"So, Callie? Where do we begin?" I watched as his pink plump lips etched out the words. His hands were folded together on the table, and his forest green eyes were rested on my boring brown ones.
::::
"So, fear. What's your biggest fear?" He asked.
"Bugs."
"Bugs? That's it?" He chuckled.
"I genuinely don't like bugs." He blankly stared for a moment.
"Any certain kind of bugs or..."
"Just bugs."
"Callie, this isn't gonna work if you don't dig deeper." I thought for a moment. My biggest fear?
"Ok, I have a fear of being alone, or abandoned." He nodded his head. A voice in my head told me to dig even deeper, but I didn't feel like opening old wounds.
"Better. Mine is losing my mum or older sister."
"Those are kind've similar right?" He finished writing on the notebook paper. His fear has already happened to me.
"I think this might work." He smiled as he jotted more ideas on the now ink filled paper.
The rest of the afternoon was filled with planning the project out and how we should show it through pictures.
I felt guilty the whole time, because my biggest fear wasn't what I told him, and I don't know if I ever could because I've never told anyone.
:::
We walked back to the campus so I could find my car and finally go home for the day.
"So in a few weeks we'll head up to my mums." He reexplained.
"Where does your mom live again?" I knew he already told me, but I was to preoccupied by my past haunting up again.
"The Oregon coast. She lives in a pretty small town." I spotted the red junk I had picked up for a car. One side was basically smashed in and was about to fall apart. I felt his hand rub against mine, and there was something about it that didn't feel normal. It was a different kind of feeling. Like the feeling of discovering something new, but something you have been looking for your whole life.
"Thanks for inviting me. I had a good time." I said unlocking the door.
"Thanks for coming. I'm glad you enjoyed it." His eyes shimmered again and appeared an even prettier shade of green as the sun reflected on it. "I'll see you next week. Bye love."
"Mhm... Callie." I slightly coughed to correct him.
"Callie." He showed his dimples and turned his back to me walking away. I just stared. I never knew such a beautiful human being could have such a beautiful soul. Not many people come around with that, but he did.
