"How is it that I'm the one who's hungover yet you still look worse than I do?" Dana asked flipping an egg in the frying pan.
"I didn't sleep much." I murmured sipping my coffee.
See you soon. The words had replayed in my mind all night long. What did he mean? Did he want me to go back to the club? How else would he see me? He didn't know anything about me, it wouldn't be possible for him to see me at work or anywhere else for that matter.
I shook my head and leaned it on the kitchen counter. Stop thinking about this. You're going to go insane.
"Did you even listen to anything I just said?" Dana snapped her fingers in my face making me flinch back.
"No." I answered with no intention of lying.
"I said," she emphasized,"you and Sean had a good time last night."
I don't think the surprise in my face was hidden at that point. "We barely even hung out. It's not like we were ever alone." I told her defensive.
"Wes and I could totally leave you guys alone from now on if that's what you want." She smiled with a look that could only be described as mischief.
"No!" I shouted,"I mean, no I like hanging out in a group."
I didn't understand why Dana was so persistent with Sean and I. He didn't even like me like that and I definitely didn't have those types of feelings for him. Especially now since I couldn't focus on anyone besides my mysterious encounter that remained nameless.
"Maybe you should make a move." Dana told me wiggling her eyebrows.
"I have no intention of making any moves." I shook my head embarrassed to even have this conversation. I knew friends talked about these types of things but I had never been one to reveal my deepest secrets.
"Ok so then I'll tell him to make the move." She concluded and I knew from the tone in her voice that she wouldn't accept me telling her no. I was also way too much of a pushover to actually fight her on it so I decided changing the subject would be best.
"Hey do you happen to know who owns the club?" I asked causally.
I did my best to ignore the look of question on her face. "No why?" She quizzed.
"Just wondering." I answered a little too quickly.
"Spill." The tone Dana used could only be described as a demand.
"I just uh, I met some guy last night and he said something about the carpets being expensive and not to throw up on them so I was wondering if he was the owner or not." I tried to make myself relax while talking about my mystery man. I quickly corrected myself in my own mind, THE mystery man, not mine.
"You asked me who the owner was because some random guy told you the club had an expensive carpet?" Dana raised her eyebrow and let out a slight giggle.
"They were nice carpets." I shrugged lamely. I felt the heat rising in my cheeks and I knew that my cover was already blown anyway.
"This guy did a number on you huh?" Dana's smile never left her face.
"No." I blushed furiously refusing to admit anything. Deny deny deny I chanted over and over in my head.
Conceal don't feel don't let them know.
I shook my head slightly blaming my younger cousin for making me watch frozen. I bet mystery man never saw frozen. He seemed much too serious and buff to watch a Disney movie, despite it being a lovely story on an independent woman who don't need no man.
