I'm not really sure where I'm going with this, but I had an idea and decided to go with it.

"Alaska!"

I sighed as I walked into the house and turned to see my mother with a angry expression on her face.

"Yes mother?"

"Where have you been? It's half past eight! I told you to be back by six, and I've been worried sick about you!"

I rolled my eyes. She should know by now that just because she tells me to do something didn't mean I would do it. Usually I would try to tone down the attitude but I had done badly at archery today and I wasn't about to listen to her rant when I couldn't care less.

"And you've ruined your dress again. I can't believe this. You know I hard to get you these dresses and all you do is ruin them."

While that part made me feel bad, I still didn't care. See, my father was fighting in a war with the neighboring kingdom, and she had to make a living for the two of us. That has been proved difficult seeing how she was a woman and it was the year 1829. Woman aren't respected where I live, so she spends her day working in the fields as if she was a peasant. Not going to lie though, we kind of are.

I rolled my eyes once again.

"Anyway, there's pressing news that the king has sent to me that he requested I share with you. You see, the princess has been captured by the neighboring kingdom and have threatened to kill her if we don't surrender. He knows that you're talented with your bow and arrow as well as a sword."

This much was true. I was far more talented with both the bow, arrow and sword than any man that has challenged me. While the king knew of this, (it's a long story) he usually ignored it. My mother also didn't approve and denyed it. Me on the other hand, it was what I loved most. So I decided to hear her out.

"Whatever does he want me to do mother?"

She looked as if she were thinking for a moment before responding.

"He has asked that you go to to see him so he could tell you himself. Oh how exciting."

That didn't sound the least but exciting, seeing as how the king disliked me so, but my mother was blind to this as well. I sighed.

"Did he give you any specifics as to when and where?" I asked.

"Why in his castle of course"

Yeah sorry I have no idea where I'm going with this. This is my first attempt at a book and I'm still deciding on the cast although, for Alaska I want to be Lily Collins.
