I storm back to my room, slamming the door behind me. I take a shower, trying to understand the Capitol-made gadgets. The water's warm, but it jets out at odd angles, stinging my skin. Suddenly the water changes into a rose-smelling liquid, which covers me from my neck down. The gel sticks to me and stings terribly. The jets start up again and they whisk away the stinging liquid. I get out and change into non-fancy clothes. I leave my room and head back to the Dining Car.

Haymitch is the only one there, a bandage taped to his forehead. "I'd like to say I'm sorry, but I'm not." I say. He lifts his head to look me in the eyes, "You shouldn't be. I'm just glad I'm too drunk to feel it. " He says depressingly. I sit next to him. "You need to sober up if you want us to have a chance at surviving. We'll need your advice. You, after all, have won your own Games." I say softly. He smiles, his teeth yellowed from years of alcohol abuse, "If you think I'm going to sober up, you're crazier than Effie. I have nothing to live for. Nothing. My family's gone and year after year I send in tributes and no one comes out. I give up. You're on your own." He says, his speech slurring. I slam my hand down on the table, "You have to care! We have to get Katniss home! Save her, please. Help her. She has to make it." I whisper. He looks at me and smiles, "Alright, you both seem like fighters, I'll help you." He says, a smile stretching his lips, "You love her a lot, don't you?" His smile fades as I nod. "I'll get her home safe," He says, his speech no longer slurred. I don't thank him, but as I get up, I put my hand on his shoulder. I walk back to my room, relieved and happy.

I am going to die, but Katniss will live. The thought saddens me, but also relieves me. I will protect her in every possible way. She will live and I will die.
