So I have to admit when I saw the trailer for tvd I was very excited. I was intrigued to see how the episodes would plan out without Nina as she was such a important character in the show. However so far I haven't really thought about her not being in it as they still include her names in lines and they all seem to act pretty much the same.
But.
We haven't just lost Elena. Kai's dead. The Gemini Coven is dead. Jo is dead.
Waaaay too many important characters were lost in the season 6 finale.
I understand many people didn't like Kai but he was one of the best villains on the show, without a doubt. He had this witty sense of humour that made him likeable even though he was bad. I think most of the fandom will agree with me that he didn't deserve to die. Or that his death should have been better. He was such a monumental character last season so I think something better should have come out of it.
Now onto the Gemini Coven...
Okay I think that most people found the twins (Luke and Liv) annoying at some point. But they had history, and that's what made them interesting. Season 6 introduced many great characters but most of them were either killed off or have suddenly vanished.
And lastly Jo. After Jenna's death I think Alaric found it hard to cope and this continued through the seasons. Finally Alaric meets someone new, falls in love and then the writers of tvd kill them off again. I don't think he'll ever get a break.
Anyways on to the first episode:
The first episode was good! I liked how they added dark moments to express how down hill things were going to go. But i still don't like those vampire/witch characters, they just annoy the shit out of me to be honest. They have hardly any background and all they do is just be there and then cause havoc (obviously). Mumma Salvatore scares the shit out of me, I feel like she secretly has an alternative motive but she's not telling anyone what it is...yet.
I hope the Salvatore boys think of something big and take back what's there's.
