He set out

In a moonlight dawn

To track her down

Use her as a pawn

When the day was done

And the pawn was used

Her heart rate nulled

Her body screwed

The man set out

The next silent dawn

In a flashing car

With a police cap on

He needed a way

To draw the blame

So he hung up a sign

A new murder gained fame

The reward was large

And the stash was low

So a man came up

And his words were a blow

Now his daughter was the culprit

The police knew this was a lie

For he had done it

With a grunt and a sigh

But he pretended to be shocked

Took the girl away

Locked her up

Mouthed "I'm sorry"

And walked towards the new day

Now the girl was found guilty

With false evidence it was proved

And the man received white powder

Not the gold the police had supposedly accrued

And the knife came down

The girl let out a scream

And the men in the corner

Didn't hear a thing

They were too busy

Rejoicing that they got away

One from the police

And the other from the next day

Five months later

When one man arrived

At 105 NW 95th drive

A woman in white greeted him

with a smile

As if a fresh bed had been waiting for him all the while

When he got clean

And the white powder was gone

He realized what he had done

He could hardly go on

His daughter's life had been traded

For a bag of white powder

And his honor hung with him

As the rope pushed deeper
