Part One
Everybody knows Richie Lawson. He's notorious for many things, most bad, some good. His family owns an international company, a sporting company or something, but nonetheless, they're probably one of the wealthiest families in our town.
Now, in the social standings it goes something like Richie, it helps that he is handsome, Pete, his best friend I guess, Will, Pete's other still handsome jock friend.
Let's just say that the top three guys on the social ladder are a triad of beautiful men.
The next four to five people on this metaphorical ladder are all very attractive females. Stacey, the captain of the girls basketball team, basketball is like our cheerleading around here, Faye, Stacey's assistant, and their lower subjects, Yasmine and Jasmine, tacky twins and Dana, the newest, sluttiest addition to their pentagram of social leaders. Of course at one point or another all of these people have had a fling with Richie, Pete and Will. I mean, apart from me and most my AP maths class, who hasn't? And when I say most, I know that Katie Smith has.
Speaking of my A-P maths class, we are at the bottom of the ladder, a thousand rungs  down from Will and Pete and Richie, yet a few up from Herman Peterson, that guy is different...
In high school, you are associated with the people you talk to, the people you hang with, and the people you party with. Let's just say that I, Mae Samuels, have never set foot in a party, only glanced at Stacey and have only talked to my mother and Mr Jameson in the past 48 hours.
And that's where I stand. And that's fine with me.
Because there's no chance in hell that Richie Lawson will ever be anything to me, but a handsome jock with a nasty reputation.
