Humans.
They're so annoying.
They believe in petty things like love, happiness, desire, and need only to use it as an excuse to get in each others pants.
Pathetic.
I looked around the maze of people in hopes of finding Mason.
Where the hell has that kid disappeared to this time?
I mean seriously we've been on the same street since the church bells across from us rang signalling that it's two thirty at night, and that was only ten minutes ago, but somehow I have seemed to lose him for the two hundredth time tonight!
"Mason!?" I yelled in hopes that he would magically appear beside me.
Nothing.
My feet started walking faster down the pavement path as worry filled my head. Mason's a big boy. He can take care of himself.
"Mason!?!?" I yelled out again.
"I'm right here Katherine, chill the fuck out." A voice snapped behind me.
Turning around to face Mason, the only other person that I could identify that voice as, I began growling like a psychotic maniac.
"You weren't right behind me two flipping minutes ago!" I yelled, anger beginning to bubble to the surface.
His blue eyes narrowed in on mine before he spoke. "You're so dramatic. Get over it and find us a place to stay for the night. I'm tired, hungry, and cold. Oh wait. I'm always those three things."
"Whatever." I blankly stated before turning back around.
He was right though. We were always hungry, or cold, or tired but that doesn't mean he has to throw it in my face like that. He's sixteen for goodness sake, he could start doing some of the stealing to help out. I mean he knows everything, and if not more, about stealing. I've taught him all that I know.
Where did we go wrong? I thought as I walked down the sidewalk. Mason's only sixteen and I'm only eighteen. We shouldn't have to be stealing from people just to get off the streets for one night, hell just to get food in our stomachs!
It's a cruel world that we live in. No body cares for anyone and they never will.
"Kat"
I turned around to look at mason who seemed to be hurt.
"I know." Was all that I could say as I searched his eyes with the need to hug him, but I knew mason and I knew it would only make things worse.
"It would've been mums birthday today" his voice hushed.
It broke my heart, what was left of it at least, to see him like this. I knew that our parents death had hit him the hardest, and all those times we got separated by CPS didn't help. We've been on the run ever since I can remember.
"Then I suggest we find a hotel with a heater and a bed to celebrate. She would want us to y'know."
Watching in amusement as those big blue eyes of his somehow became larger with anticipation I laughed, swinging an arm around his shoulders.
"Will there be food?" He asked with that goofy grin of his.
"If you can get the room, then I can get the food." I beamed.
"Cake maybe?" His grin becoming impossibly wider.
"That's not food, but I guess." I said as I sling my arm around his shoulder and ruffled his hair with my hand.
"Whatever, mum." He laughed out.
