I groaned loudly as the soumd of the alarm filled my ears and I slammed my fist down onto the button, the room filling with silence once more. Then, my door slammed open, followed by the sound of very loud, very bad singing.
I sat up rubbing my eyes as they finished the last verse of the birthday song. Looking at the smiling faces of my family members, I saw they had a cupcake with a candle in the middle. Blowing out the flame, I made the wish to find my mate. Today was the day I turned sixteen. The day I shifted. The day I hoped to find my mate.
I smiles back at my family as they sat the cupcake on my bedside table leaving me to get dressed. I jumped up and raced to my bathroom taking a quick shower. Stepping out I wrapped myself in a towel, wrapping a seperate one around my hair.
I walked into my closet, grabbing the outfit I had laid out the night before. A large navy blue sweater that reached my thighs, and a pair of dark wash skinny jeans. Along with my old pair of Converse, which used to be white.
Putting on the outfit, I blow dried my hair and left it straight; the way it naturally was. I grabbed my backpack and my cupcake before walking out of the my room and down to the kitchen, where my mom, dad, and five older brothers were waiting with bright smiles.
My mother greeted me with a big hug, and I felt tears hitting my shoulder. "My pup is all grown up." She whispered sadly, causing me to chuckle lightly. "I'm only sixteen, Mom. Its not like Im getting married." I laughed again as she pulled back to look at me.
She wiped her tears and smoothed out my clothing even though they were perfectly fine. "That mate of yours better treat you right." My father growled softly, standing next to my mother. "Oh, honey. Whoever he is I'm sure he'll treat her right."
I stiffened up slightly as she called my mate he. I slowly backed out of the kitchen and once I was out of sight and earshot I sighed deeply. I ran a hand down my face and slowly began walking to school.
My poor family has no idea who their daughter's mate is really going to be.

I've known she was my mate for over a year now. Sweet, small, innocent Cherokee. I've been waiting so long. I can't wait to hold her in my arms.
Her long blonde hair, her bright blue eyes, her beautiful smile. And to think, someone that amazing is my mate. Her laugh is like music, her voice is smooth like silk. Its been so hard to refrain from telling her. She probably doesn't even know I exist.
None of that matters now. Because today she realizes shes mine. Mine and only mine forever. Now to worry about her parents.

Walking into school, I immediately caught a mouth watering scent of cherries and pepermint. I needed to find it. I knew it was my mate. Suddenly, I noticed the smell was getting closer. And very fast. I stiffined up slightly as my heart beat quickened, and then I heard footsteps. They were light and quick.
Then I saw them as they turned to corner and came into veiw. My mate stopped, a wide smile on their face. They chocolate brown eyes, and the same color hair to match. My mate wore an outfit similar to mine, and it made me blush slightly.
They walked towards me and I nervously walked towards them. I was unsure, but this was my mate, this was what the Moon Goddess intended. So, it was right.
We were soon standing face to face, my mate standing slightly taller than me. "Cherokee." My name rolled off my mates tongue with such familiarity it made me shudder. I didn't even know them.
They took me into their arms and smiles looking down into my eyes. "My name is Lillian, but you can call me Lilly." She said, the smile never once leaving her face. I felt my wolf howl in happiness as she heard our mates name.
Lilly. She was beautiful. Yes, she was a girl. But, its not like I didnt expect this. After all, I am a lesbian. But god, if this was wrong, then who gives a fuck about being right.
"Lilly." I said, trying her name out, causing her smile to widen even more. If that was possible.
My mate was a girl, and I honestly couldn't ask for anything better.
