Prologue

Ivana

"Are you almost ready?" My mother shouted up the stairs. I had been sketching a new outfit idea to create. I loved designing. It was my pride and joy. I barely ever even bought clothes anymore. I created all my own outfits.

I looked down and noticed I was still in my pajamas.

"Uh, yeah, I'll be ready soon," I lied. I ran to my closet looking through all my clothes. After searching through, I found the perfect outfit. I put on a light peach color, strapless, and short romper that I had created earlier this summer. For shoes, I added  light brown gladiator sandals. I brushed out my stand out red hair and pulled into a high ponytail. Make-up wise, I just put some tan eyeshadow above my unusual light purple eyes and a dab of sparkling pink lip gloss.

I quickly grabbed my light brown purse and hurried down the stairs. My mother was sitting on our navy blue couch reading a magazine.

"Are you finally ready?" She asked without looking up from the magazine.

I smiled, "Yep. Let's head to the mall."

When she got up, she looked at me, "Cute outfit."

That's what I loved about my mom. She's so supportive of me. My mother was all the family I had around here. My father disappeared when I was eight years old, and I haven't heard from him since. I missed him. It was hard for me. I was such a daddy's girl back then.

---------------

When we arrived at the mall, we immediately split up. We promised to meet at the food court in about a hour. I headed straight to the fabric store. This was my favorite place in this entire place. I could spend my entire day getting lost in all the patterns and colors.

"Well, if it isn't Miss Ivana," I heard a voice say. I turned to see the cashier today was Claire. She was this like 26 year old fashion student. Claire was my favorite person who worked here. She always helped me choose the best fabrics that fit my idea.

"Hey, Claire, how's college going?" I happily said as she came over to hug me.

"Great, so what are you currently working on?" she asked. Claire always asked about my designs. She was the one I always showed my designs to because she always was honest about it. If she loved it, she say it, and if she didn't, she wouldn't spare my feelings.

I pulled out my design book from my purse, "So, I have two designs I'm working on. One is a leather  sleeveless moto vest, and the other is a jumper dress, but I'm not sure what color or pattern I want."

She grabbed the book from me, "I think you should go with a dark blue color. Maybe with some design on it. Come I'll show you where they are."

Claire led me through a few aisle to an aisle filled with all different shades of blue fabrics.

The phone rang and Claire commented, "Leathers are two aisles that way. I have to take that."

When she walked away, I started to sort through fabrics. I had this strange feeling someone was watching me. I always hated that feeling. Glancing around, I didn't see anyone. I opened my sketchbook trying to imagine which would look better in the design. That feeling still didn't go away.

"Did you find which one you wanted?" Claire said and I jumped.

"Oh my gosh, you scared me half to death," I almost screamed.

"Ha ha, don't be so jumpy," she laughed.

I glared, "I want this plain navy blue fabric."

"Great choice. Did you look at the leathers yet?" she asked.

"Uh, no, I'll do that some other time. I need to meet my mom soon," I answered as I went towards the register.

After I paid, I headed to the food court to wait for my mother. I took a seat at one of the silver circular table. Pulling out a pencil and my book, I began sketching some more. A lot of people ask why I design clothes. It's freedom. I mean there are rules to fashion, but you can bend some. It's all about setting your own trends. I get to express myself in everything I wear. Every little thing I design has a piece of me in it.

"Hey, what's up?" a voice said. I looked up to see a teenage guy standing there. He was probably a year older than I was. He had ash blonde hair that was slicked back with gel. His eyes were a dark green color. He was sort of attractive, but dating wasn't something that passed through my mind often.

"Hi, can I help you?" I asked.

He smirked, "A lovely girl like you shouldn't be sitting here all alone."

"Well, I'm meeting someone here soon. So, nothing to worry about," I stated calmly.

"What are you drawing?"

I looked around to see my mom coming this way. Perfect timing.

"Just a design. I've got to go. Bye," I answered as I packed up my stuff up. I rushed to meet my mom.

She grinned at me, "Who was that?"

"Just some random guy," I responded.

"He's cute," she added. I rolled my eyes.

After we ate lunch at one of the real restaurants in the mall, we decided to head home. In the car, my mother and I just talked about random things.

"Ivana, homecoming's coming up. Do you plan to go?" she questioned.

I gave her the look, "It's not until like two months. It's only August. Homecoming is in October. As of right now, I'm not sure I want to go."

"You should. I'm sure it'd be fun. You could even design your own dress, so it'd be one of a kind," she suggested.

"Dances aren't really my thing. Maybe I'll design for my friends or something," I retorted.

She rolled her eyes, "Whatever you say."

We finally arrived home. I couldn't wait to start working on my new dress. I planned to start up my sewing machine as soon as I got to my room. I helped my mother gather up her shopping bags. When I opened the door I couldn't believe what I saw.

Our living room had been destroyed. The furniture had been moved and flipped around. The room was covered with blue tulips, my favorite flower. On the walls, there were tons of pictures of me taped up. Me in classroom, pictures of me asleep, and hanging out of friends. All times when I had no clue someone was taking pictures. In red paint, one wall read 'I'm coming for you, Ivana. You're mine!'

I did the only thing I could................I screamed.

Author's Note: Hello, everyone. This is my newest book, and I'm so excited for it. I think it'll be a good. I've worked really hard on all the details of this book. I expanded and debated this plot and story a lot. I hope you enjoy it. I want to give a big thanks to angelhands2060. She made this incredible cover. I love it so much, and I can't begin to thank her for. I think it's an amazing cover, very eye catching, and that's why she has this prologue dedicated to her. This chapter was more of the intro to Ivana, who I see as more of the central character. She'll be the one who's view I'll write the most about probably. I want to hear what you think of this prologue, so comment. THANKS FOR READING!!!!!!
