The dark purple bruises up his arms were the only clear images of him that I could remember. Yes, I had photographs, but they were too painful to look at. They reminded me of the days that were simple, the days before a certain 911 call ripped him out of my life. I thought that night was the end of my friendship with Callen, but it turns out that it was just the start. Four years after the alleged deaths of the Foster family, three of the four members were back in town, responding to some questions, but leaving many unanswered.
I still remember where I was the night of Cal's big return, and though everything after that is a tangled mess of lies, tears, and words that should've been left unsaid, I'll remember those moments too. I hope this is for the best, but hope never got me very far in life.
