Makenna
Rated PG-13 for strong language. P.s. Fall picture attached. Amen for the pretty colors and cold weather!Wow honestly it is like the hardest damn thing. You come up with these ideas and these concepts and you're so happy, you're so proud of them.
You know the beginning the middle and the end. The climax, the epilogue the background.. You know EVERYTHING.. Except how to put it all into a story.
Dialogue. Dialogue is soooooo hard. You can't go from damsel in trouble to damsel gets saved to happily ever after just like that. Things have to happen in between. People have to talk and stories have to unfold. That's the hard part. The other hard part is grammar.
I'm not talking basic grammar here, I know my your's you're's and my they're their and there's.. It's commas and colons and semicolons and hyphens and paragraphs and all that. Sometimes it can get confusing.
It's not wanting to use giant words for risk of looking like a try hard, or using small words and looking like a child wrote it. There's a happy medium, but finding it is difficult.
It's wanting your story to come to life, but the disappointment behind how it turns out.
It's disappointing the readers with a story you KNOW can be good.
It's disappointing yourself because you KNOW you can do better.
It's the frustration you feel trying to write your story but you just can't. Writers block is such a bitch guys. It's so hard to get past it sometimes. It's so damn frustrating trying to write a story and loving it and then hating how it's going because you felt the need to just "put something up."
Please, please do not rush people to update because you got interested in a story you just happened to find.
ALWAYS CHECK THE LAST UPDATED DATE BEFORE YOU EVEN START A STORY.
If that story hasn't been updated in more than a month, don't read it. Or read it, but don't blow up the author's messages and page with "when are you going to update?" "Update please!!!"
You might grow to love it and that author might not have the time to work on it. And then you're disappointed with them, and they're disappointed in themselves for not giving you what you want, even though they just can't.
Please, PLEASEEEEE consider all of this before you harass a writer for something. It's so difficult, I've tried it. 4 times I've tried it and every single time I've taken my story down. I start great, regular weekly updates, great chapters.. And then I lose it. Finding the story line, the passion to write that story line, the ability to make it great. So I take time off from it, and then I feel bad because I haven't updated in 2 weeks.
"I'm losing readers. I'm never gonna get anyone to like this. I should've never done this." That's what I think to myself. And I don't want to. I wanted to enjoy myself. I wanted to enjoy writing. I wanted to enjoy making up my own story.. So give them a break. Give us a break. Let us do it on our own time and the stories will turn out SO much better. They'll be written with happiness and passion.. Not stress and a lack of dedication.
If you want to write, here's some advice...
•WRITE FOR YOU.
•DONT RUSH.
•PLAN AHEAD.
•WORK ON YOUR STORY WHEN YOU FEEL THE MOST PASSION FOR IT.
•DONT GIVE UP ON SOMETHING YOU REALLY WANT.So yeah. That's what writing on Wattpad is. It's hard. If you see someone with multiple stories in their works, applaud them. Tell them they did a damn good job because you KNOW that must've been hard. If you find an author who writes more than one story you like, follow them. Vote for them. Comment for them. Give their stories love because THAT is such a hard thing to accomplish.
Please respect the authors on this site.
Because believe it or not, this isn't always a simple thing, they're really dedicated.
