Cally's Point Of View

"California Summer Jackson! What on heavens and earth are you still doing here?! For Pete's sake! You're forty-five minutes late!"

I hasten to grasped at the nearest pillow as fast as I can. Goodness, Maryland's voice is still echoing in my ears. And, mentioning my full name sounds like, "There's a summer in California!" I can feel my cheeks fuming red.

"Okay, okay! But still! You don't need to call me by my full name, Maryland Winter Jackson!" I said as I stuck my tongue out.

I hastily gather my toiletries before Maryland's burst out in anger. I can imagine how her angelic face will turn into a sinister-looking stranger with an evil smirk plastered in the face. From here, I still can hear her childish whines. Oh, I can't blame her though. If I were to blame someone, definitely, it would be our immature parents. Like, seriously? Who on their right minds will name their child 'California Summer'? My parents are so unique. They had a race of their own.

"California, will you please make it faster?!" Maryland yelled.

"Alright, madame!" I said, not trying to hide the sarcasm in my tone. I rolled my eyes heavenwards. Can't she see that I'm trying my best not to be late? Worse is, I'm already late. What a great way to start your day.

After finishing taking a bath, I wear my uniform. In addition, I matched it with a pair of ragged sneakers and white knee socks.

"Done? That's it? I've waited for fifty-three friggin' minutes just to- Oh, geez."

I arched a brow. What's wrong with my outfit? My uniform is not too short. Actually, it's a long skirt with lousy blouse. And of course, my ragged sneakers and white knee socks. There's really nothing wrong with it.

"What?"

"Arggh! Naught! Let's go! We're late!"

My older sister is working as a clerk at a phamaceutical company. While me, I'm still studying. It's obvious, isn't it?

"Wait!"

"What now?!" Her brows furrowed.

"I think I forgot something! Go ahead!" I immediately ran into our house's main door and unlocked the knob.

"Oh, god, oh, god. Where is it?" I tried to calm myself but, I'm still panicking. My hands are trembling and my knees are like a jelly.

I suddenly stopped moving when I remembered something.

"Don't tell me..."

I'm dead. Really dead.

"Ahh! This is so frustrating!" I scratched my head.

"Mary!" But, it's too late. What am I supposed to feel? My emotions are mixed.

"Sir, have you seen a white girl with a pharmacy's uniform?" I bit my nails. I'm fidgeting too much.
