I sat cross legged on the outdoor swing on the porch. The warm summer breeze wrapped around me, heating my skin and blowing wisps of hair onto my face.
The porch swing swayed gently. I stared out at the street where old couples happily walked their small, bouncy dogs and small children scurried around, chatting away.
My summer dress flowed out around me and the porch swing cushions hugged close to my sides.
My heart ached. It ached with yearning. I never knew how much you could miss someone. I knew he'd be back any day now but I still couldn't help how much I was hurting from missing him.
I gazed out at the flowers blooming in the front garden, fiddling with the necklace that still hung around my neck from the girls that by the way, visited me everyday. I guess they missed the boys too.
My eyes flickered down to the two rings on my fingers. I half smiled down at them, brushing my hair away from my eyes.
The beautiful wedding ring and the promise ring he gave me. The silver infinity sign ring with, 'forever,' engraved in the band. I knew that wherever he was, he wore the same ring. Just knowing that brought some comfort to me.
I gulped back the tears that were forming in the corners of my eyes when I heard little footsteps run out onto the wooden porch.
I looked over at Josie and smiled.
She wore a little pink sundress with pink and white floral patterns, little white converse shoes and the silver bangle Harry gave her before he left for tour.
Josie's dark brown curls cascaded down her back, reaching her bum and a pink bow with white polka dots was clipped to the side. Her long lashes fluttered over her bright green eyes and her plump pink lips were pursed as she carefully combed her doll's silky, golden blonde hair.
"Hey baby."
She looked up frowning.
"I'm not a baby mummy! I'm a big girl! I'm 6!!!"
I chuckled.
"I know you're a big girl sweetie."
She smiled, satisfied with the answer. Her deep dimples popping in her cheeks.
She had Harry's curls, skin tone, dimples, lips and eye colour but she had my shape nose and eye shape. She was absolutely gorgeous.
I patted the spot beside me.
"Come here sweetie. Why don't we brush your dolly's hair together."
She smiled brightly, nodding as she skipped over.
She had trouble climbing onto the porch swing but I gently lifted her up to sit beside me. She was quite short. That surprised me considering how tall Harry was.
"What's dolly's name sweetie?"
She looked up at me with wide eyes.
"Her names Harriet."
I smiled at the name she gave it.
"That's a beautiful name sweetie."
She smiled down at her doll, twirling a strand of Harriet's hair between her fingers.
"Aunty Eleanor helped me choose the name. She said you'd like it."
I brushed a curl out of Josie's face.
"And I do love it."
Josie placed down her doll and snuggled into my side.
"Mummy. When's uncle Niall, uncle Louis, uncle Zayn, uncle Liam and daddy coming back. I miss them."
