The trio went back to Vic's after an hour or so; Kellin started feeling nervous. It was time to formally meet Vic's mother. He really wanted to make a good first impression, he wanted her to like him because Kellin planned on coming back to Vic's house as often as possible.

When they got back to the house, Vic took Kellin's wrist and pulled him inside, Gabe trailing behind him.

"Mama said she wants to meet you before we leave for the concert, which we should soon," Vic said as he pulled Kellin into the kitchen, where Mrs. Fuentes stood, washing dishes.

"Mama." Vic cleared his throat to get his mother's attention. She turned and a smile broke out on her face.

"You're back." She grabbed a towel from a rack that stood beside her on the counter and dried off her hands. "Did you have fun?"

"Yes, Mama."

"Good, good. You other two, you're Kellin and... Greg, right?" Mrs. Fuentes asked curiously. Kellin coughed back a snort and nudged Gabe, who was standing at his side, with his elbow.

"Uh- My name is Gabe, Ma'am, not Greg," he laughed nervously.

"Oh dear, my apologies! I at least got your name right, didn't I?" Her amused gaze turned to Kellin, whose cheeks went pink as the spotlight was on him.

"Uh-um, y-yes, Ma'am..." he said bashfully. "I'm Kellin."

"Oh, stop with the 'Ma'am,' you two. Just call me Vivian, or Mama, or just about anything else," Vivian laughed, leaning casually against the counter. "Now... I'd like to have a word with just Kellin."

"Ma, please don't do this," Vic begged, sighing.

"Vic, take Gabe to the living room."

"Ma."

"Vic."

"...Fine. C'mon, Gabe," Vic grumbled, then he leaned close to Kellin's ear and whispered, "Good luck."

Once Kellin and Vivian were alone, Kellin could feel anxiety start to pulse through his veins. What was she going to ask him about? What is bad? Was he in trouble?

"So, Vic tells me you're from Los Angeles," Vivian spoke, crossing her arms and smiling lightly.

"Yes, Ma'am- or uh, Vivian." Kellin fiddled with his fingers anxiously. Vivian simply chuckled.

"You know, Vic talks very fondly of you," she began wiping down the counter with her towel as she continued; "I don't think he's gone a day without mentioning you at least once since you two met."

"Really...?" Kellin's cheeks began to burn slightly, he was glad her back was currently turned to him. But a moment later, she spun around and looked at him.

"Exactly how long have you known each other?" she inquired.

"Uh..." Kellin racked his brain for a second, trying to remember just how long he'd been talking to Vic. "I dunno, like... a couple weeks, I think. I can't remember exactly."

"I see..." Vivian pursed her lips a bit, her eyes trailing Kellin's figure up and down suspiciously. "What is he to you?"

"What do you mean?"

"What is he to you?" she repeated, stepping closer to the other. "What do you feel for him?"

"I, uh... I feel that he's become one of my best friends," Kellin murmured, tucking his hair behind his ear; all the sounds around him became more prominent. The distant voices of Vic and Gabe, the traffic outside, Vivian's breathing. Kellin didn't like this interrogation she was giving him.
