The old lady turned and smiled. There was something unsettling about her that Michelle couldn't quite put her finger on. Maybe it was the ladies eyes. Her eyes had no single color. The switched from green, blue then to brown so quickly that the colors blended together. Also, her eyes seemed to stare at you with a sense that she knows something you don't, and she's not going to tell you.

Michelle smiled back despite her sense of uncertainty. She instantly felt as if she knew the old woman for years, and they were sharing some kind of inside joke, and Michelle felt old too, although she was only 16.
Michelle was grateful when the bus showed up. The mechanical doors opened and she was about to get up when the old woman grabbed her arm and said in a barely audible voice: "soon".
