"Hello, darling. May I buy you a book?" Draco smirks at me, his eyes stormy and grey.
"Excuse me?" I questioned.
"I'm Malfoy. Draco Malfoy."
"I know who you are. Just because it's been 7 years, doesn't mean that you should keep teasing." I said, sharply.
"We've met, before?" He inquired.
"You really don't recognize me?"
He shook his head, shaking out his gorgeous hair. I grabbed a random book and held it in front of my face, the way I usually did in the Hogwarts library.
"Hermione? Granger? You look..." He looked flabbergasted.
"The one and only. And how do I look?"
"... different." He stared at my pink top and white skinny jeans. "Muggle clothes suit you well. And I like the way you fixed your hair. Perfectly lovely."
"T-thank you, Malfoy. I like your suit. Very dashing..." I looked at the ground, unsure what else to say.
"No need to be shy, Granger," he smirked. "Now, how about that book? I'd like to give something to the Brightest Witch of Her Age."
"I couldn't allow that, Malfoy." I felt ashamed at knowing that I don't have enough to get this book, but I couldn't allow Malfoy to buy it for me.
As I held "Hush, Hush" in my arms (my favourite book, by Becca Fitzpatrick) he stared at me with the most concerned eyes.
"I would love to, Hermione," he whispered.
"You called me Hermione..." It was more of a statement than a question.
"That is your name." He took the book from my hands and smiled. I just stared, open-mouthed.
I followed him to the cashier and watched as he purchased the book.
"Have a great day, sir." The lady at the cashier smirked at Draco. A smoldering look was on her beautiful face.
"You didn't have to do that, Drakie," I whispered in his ear, as I held his firm bicep. I kissed his cheek before the girl gasped. I mumbled a "play along" after he tensed.
"I wanted to, my love," and with that, he turned, put his arms around my waist and gave me the sweetest kiss I have ever gotten since Ron and I broke up.
I heard the girl scoff and walk away.
"I think she's gone..." I mumbled against his lips.
But he kept on with his divine kiss.
A while later, the girl cleared her throat, and we both looked at her.
"I'm sorry for that. I hope we didn't disturb your work." Draco said, not unkindly.
As we were leaving, Draco reached for my hand and asked why I did that.
"I'm not sure. Something came over me and I just felt that I need to protect you, or something of that sort." I stammered.
"Well, thank you. I would have had to break that down and there would have been more tears and less kissing. You can protect me anytime, Hermione."
I blushed and looked at the bag in my hands. "Thank you for the book. I really do appreciate it."
"Have you read it before?" At my nod, he asked what it's about.
"This girl meets a fallen angel, her protector, of a sort. He can either save her or destroy her, but as they both fall in love with each other, he cannot choose the latter. I find it rather romantic," I say to myself.
"Perhaps I shall read it after you. I would love to discuss it over a dinner?" His voice hinted a question, waiting for my permission.
"I would love that, too," I smiled at his look of pure ecstasy.
"How wonderful," his voice relayed a great amount of joy. "May I come by tonight?"
"Um... Sure, of course. Come around for dinner? At 6?"
"Terrific. I'll apparate in," he looked positively joyous.
"Perfect. Well, I best be off. See you, tonight, Draco. And thank you, again, for the book," I smiled and started to walk away.
*meanwhile in the store*
"Well, let's just see how long it takes to get him away from her... He's mine, anyways," the girl started to laugh.
