Pre-story Note: Hello readers! In this chapter I'll need to do some explaining, I had a list of events to take place before the team makes it to Cinnabar Island, so the transition to this chapter from the last one will be... for lack of better words- strange. Regardless, hope you enjoy the chapter and I'll see you guys around the internet!

Preview Post: this chapter is currently incomplete. I'm terribly sorry for taking so long to update my story. With school in full swing and other distractions taking my concentration, I sort of forgot about this story. I will try to finish up this backstory ASAP, but don't expect it to take a week. I've tried to think through the entire history and want it to be perfect, so again please excuse the slowness. Now, on with the story!

The sun has now set on the battlefield, leaving the moon to light up the team's surroundings. Focused on trying to get off of the mainland as soon as possible, Oblivion and N stood by the Yotomo River, checking the waters for a fitting Pokémon to ride on.

"Hey Oblivion." N says, finally breaking the silence. "Are you certain that we can't just tie a bunch of these Magikarp together and make a fish raft?"

Oblivion grinned at the thought of the fish raft. "Well, it could happen, but we would need lots of rope and we need to make sure the Magikarp don't drown us in a dive. We'd be better off finding a Wailmer or something."

"Alright. I guess we can't have an easy way off this place. Anyways, I've got to head back to the rest of the group, you go ahead and turn in whenever you feel like it."

"No need to tell me, g'night." The Darkrai says as N turns and starts to walk to where the other Pokémon had a campfire set up. Shade and Psyker were both still obviously shaken by Volt's death, just staring into the orange flames silently. On the other hand, Seeker and Kayla were attempting to break the grim mood.

"So, Seeker. You, um... seem to know Shade pretty well, do you know why he's been to Cinnabar Island?" Kayla asks.

Seeker looks over to the Umbreon. "Yeah, I do know, but that's such a long story only Shade would remember all the details of it, and he doesn't look in the mood for storytelling."

Curiosity getting the best of her, Kayla stands up and pads over to the unusual Absol. "Shade, I've been wondering about you."

Shade raises an eyebrow. "What exactly do you mean by that?"

"Well, I'm interested in how you got into this group, and why you know so much about Cinnabar Island."

N interrupts the conversation "Wait, why would Shade of all Pokémon have knowledge about that island?"

Shade looked over to Seeker, who was motioning for him to go ahead and tell Kayla. After a short silence, the Absol sighed. "Alright, fine, I'll tell you why I know what I know.
It's a long, long story though, and I doubt I can remember everything."

Psyker perks up when Shade said that. "Or I could just take your memory of your past and put it into Kayla's memory to save time."

"That could be useful, but I think I'll tell this one without any memories being messed with."

"Suit yourself." The Mewtwo says.

"So," Shade says. "There's a detailed history and just a short version. Seeing as we have plenty of time, I'll choose the first of those."

~Backstory of Shade & Seeker~

(Italicized and Underlined sentences are Shade or Seeker giving more information)

In a small, two-story house, a human with short, jet black hair and a long white lab-coat throws open the door. "Annie! I got a job at the facility in town!" The man shouted. Hanging his lab-coat on a hook attached to the door, the man looked around his new home.
