"You are a failure of a queen, you can't protect anyone in this world. Let alone you," Dathern smirked as he saw my expression fall. People loved to tell me I would fail as their first queen because I was too sweet to everyone. Dathern took out his daggers and approached me slowly, like time would wait until he got to me to keep moving.

I just looked at my hands and could see myself drowning in blood; nothing could stop me from sinking. Then, like a flame in total darkness I felt the wind blow my hair around my head and anger came over me. In the wind there were whispers of I'm sorry and it's not your fault. Like the people who died because of me were giving me something I've longed for, hope and a fighting spirit. Revenge.

"You will die without anybody to remember you and nobody will care to ask about your ancestors. I'll be the new heir to the throne. Goodbye Lyri," he went to cut my neck with his daggers then I caught his dagger in my hand. Squeezing it until blood was flowing down my hand like a mini stream. Dathern jumped back and snarled.

I stood up unsteadily and looked up at him with a clear understanding and madness deep within my eyes. "You think it's so easy to be the first queen when I have no siblings," I snapped at him, "I was never supposed to be a girl, my parents tried to hide their disappointment but I saw." He just stared at me with a calm rage with the fluidity of a cat. "I always saw through the little things but here's what I realize. I realized that I am what stand between my kingdom and the darkness of the world. I would gladly fall repeatedly and bleed than watch my kingdom drown in the blood of my people. SO DON'T CALL ME A FAILURE!"

Dathern's eyes widened in surprise as he saw the swirling of water shield my body while my eyes narrowed into thin orange slits. I was lethal rage, sorrow, and retribution. I would not fall today, tomorrow, or days from now because I was what my mom called Rathlins; people of anger and light.

"How? You were not supposed to be a Rathlin, you showed no potential," he snapped at me. I gave him a smirk that said I couldn't careless of what he thinks of this situation. "You were weak and lame. So very deliciously afraid of me but now you are...STRONG!"

I walked towards him as my water turned into fire, a fire so strong and blinding that it would set this world on fire. "You call yourselves good and light, you think yourselves gods. Hah! You are no god," I spat at him. "You are destruction and hatred, death and despair. I am light and life, I will set this world on fire and dowse it in my own water. No one else can do that but me. I am the most powerful Rathlin to walk this godforsaken world." Dathern started to grab his sword, but I turned my swirling eyes to it and it turned as hot as a star. I watched him quickly drop it and yelp.

"You are monsters! ALL YOUR KIND," as fast as the wind I grabbed his hand and let my fire burn him.

"I can't say that my people are all good but neither are humans. We are all creatures of rage and darkness in some form. Don't turn around and blame one kind for all the injustice in the world. Don't you dare think you can destroy my world and think I won't come back ten times as bad. If you think your little rebels will win think again. My city will rise out of the ashes like a phoenix from long ago." I let go of his wrist so he would think I was done. Just as he relaxed, I showed my canines and snapped his wrist.
