I was falling. And it was lovely. I thrust awake. So many footsteps. They were approaching ones. I got up, kicking Karen's feet and busting through the door. I ran to the Opening to see 15 black figures in the distance, gliding toward.
"Kindred! Kindr-"Alex was suddenly at my side. His face was pale and his confident demeanour seemed cracked. His pack came running behind him.
"What's going on?" I say in a panic. The others are around us now, their faces hardened. They knew bad news was on the way.
"The neighbouring pack, they are here. We didn't think it would happen this fast. We were keeping tabs, and skipped tonight. And they're here!"
"How long do we have?" Karen asks.
"Ten minutes at the most. We could run and we might still make it"
"Why are we still here then? Run! Let's go" I called. I looked around and the others seemed in agreement.
"Okay. Then we run."
And we ran. But it didn't seem to matter. Time wore on slowly, and I could hear their threatened heartbeats. The figures were gaining on us. And after we passed the known part of Threadwood, we needed guidance.
"Kindred" Why did he keep saying my name? Why did he need my help over theirs? I looked at his sweating face and something close to hatred flooded through me. This cowardly man had created five monsters out of fear. Children would die tonight, and this man could be held accountable. No, would be held accountable.
"We need to see ahead" He pleaded.
"Fine!" I snarled.
I out ran them all in half an hour. I was sure they were far behind by now. I was looking behind me, wondering where they were, when a shot sounded. It echoed through the forest ad whizzed past my ear. I saw the dirt lift where the bullet. Crap. Now we had the stalkers and a patrol group. I had to warn them all about the danger.
I sped backwards, constantly checking behind me. I arrived to the worst scene I had ever seen.
Each one of their bodies hung from a massive, leafless tree. They were all torn to shreds, covered in dirt and blood. I stared, then vomited blood and cried. No head were on the ground beneath the tree. Where are their heads?
Snap. One of the branches broke and Alex's bodie hit the ground with a thud.
Bang. A bullet passed through my leg, but I didn't feel the pain. I felt only the white hot anger that overwhelmed my senses. I looked back to where the gunshot came from and saw the group of humans.
Then, I became the thing of nightmares.
