Once upon a time there lived a tycoon and his wife. After many years the wife gave birth to a gorgeous baby girl. She was the most precious gift they could have ever asked for, they named her Shin MyeongAe.
Ever since MyeongAe was a little girl, dozens of other families seeked to discuss their wishes for an arranged marriage between theirs sons and MyeongAe, All in hopes of associating themselves with the Shin family, the richest family in South Korea.
But MyeongAe was never interested in these rich snobs, she dreamt of true love.
By the time MyeongAe was 17, her parents had become worried that she might never find someone to marry.
"MyeongAe, we are worried that you've not chosen a suitor, we're growing too old and we need someone to take over the company in a few years." Said her parents.
MyeongAe replied with silence and a blank stare
MyeongAe's mother sighed and then said to her, "our business associates, the Jung's, have son not much older than you. And we've arranged for you to marry him."
It seemed almost as if MyeongAe's whole world was collapsing in front of her. She could never spend the rest of her life with someone she doesn't love.
"Mother! Father! Please! You cannot make me do this! I can't marry him! There must be something else!" MyeongAe pleaded. Her parents looked to one another.
"Alright," Her father sighed. "You have one year. if you do not have anyone to marry your 18th birthday, you WILL marry Sungyeol!" he father replied.
MyeongAe set out into the big world all alone. Her parents offered to give her anything she desired, but she only took a place to stay and 800,000 won. She wanted someone to love her for her, not her parent's wealth. So she hid the fact that she was the daughter of the richest and most powerful family in Seoul, and started working at a small internet café.
MyeongAe worked at the cafe to support herself and hoping to find her true love, but she never did.
One day, after working a late shift, MyeongAe was just leaving when she waved goodbye to her co-workers, she turned back to the street, and she bumped into someone. All of the books and other miscellaneous items in the nook of her arm, and the stranger's coffee fell to the ground, destroying al her books and papers.
"My stuff!" she shouted. She bent down to pick up her ruined things and she butt heads with the stranger. Annoyed and confused, she looked up. She did not expect to be looking into eyes that held such innocence and warmth, the most beautiful pair of eyes she had ever seen.
"I'm so sorry!" the stranger said and smiled widely. MyeongAe stared into his eyes, her mouth agape.
His voice was deep and rich, just like hot chocolate. "I'm Chanyeol." He smiled and held out his hand, "I'm so sorry about your things." He frowned. Chanyeol outstreched his hand, crumpled papers sticking out from his thin fingers. "Here's 88,000 won. It's all I have, but I hope it's able to cover some of the cost." He said formally. MyeongAe noted that and thought what a gentleman and filed the thought away for later.
"No no no. I can't take your money. It was all an accident." MyeongAe stuttered, still thunderstruck by the intensity of his eyes, the smooth richness of his voice and the golden smile. He was the most beautiful person she had ever seen. And from then on, she knew, she would spend the rest of her life with this person.
"I should have been paying attention."
"But your books, I've ruined them. There must be something I can do?" He frowned.
MyeongAe said nothing, conflicted on what to do.
He frowned again. MyeongAe thought he looked like a little puppy. "Please, let me work here," He pleaded, taking her hands into his own in a plead. "So I can pay off the damages. I cannot afford to be in debt to anyone right now." Chanyeol said.
