CHAPTER ONE: WELCOME TO MY LIFE
My bare feet pounded along the highway. Stones dug into my feet, making them bleed but I didn’t care. My brown hair, turned black from dirt was flying out behind me, I swung my arms forward and back, right now I needed all the speed I could get.
Suddenly I heard the sound of cars coming up behind me, I flung myself under the nearest bush and curled up into the smallest ball I could. As the cars passed I let out a breath I hadn’t realised I’d been holding. I was safe for now, the cars had gone. As I stood up my dress caught on the bush and as a loud ripping sound reached my ears I cursed out loud.
By the way, my name is Abby. I’m fourteen years old and I already know more about the world than most adults. I have brown hair and brown eyes, plain looks really but Mom always used to say that my eyes told stories that anyone else’s eyes couldn’t.I'm on the run from a dangerous organisation that have captured my Mom, Dad and big brother Josh.
Oh yeah..and I should probably mention that I'm not exactly human. I'm actually half human and half vampire, part of an ancient race called the Guerrers. Guerrer is Latin for Warriors which is what we are. I'll tell you more later
I stood up and started running again. Adrealene kept me going. After what seemed like hours I slowed down to a jog and then a walk. I felt my eyelids drooping but I couldn’t stop here. I needed to find a safe place to spend the night. I wandered down a few streets until I found what looked like a deserted house. I crept up to the front gate and sized it up. I took a few steps back and ran forwards and jumped. I flew over the fence and landed in the front garden.
Slowly I stood up and brushed up most of the dirt off my hands. I glanced around to see if anyone had heard my landing. I couldn’t hear anyone coming so I walked quietly around to the back of the house. I saw a dirty window off its hinges and using an overturned paint bucket I heaved myself up onto the windowsill and after many tries I managed to hook one leg over the sill into what could have once been a lounge room. I found a dusty pillow and a blanket that was half covered in mold. As I lay down to sleep that night I was afraid but exhilarated at the same time.
CHAPTER TWO: WHO I REALLY AM
The sun shined through the torn curtain and I woke with a start. As I sat up I groaned, bruises from yesterday's events not only covered my legs and arms, they hurt like hell too. I looked at my left arm and saw a huge scar from my elbow to my wrist. It was likely that my arm had been broken but my healing abilities had fixed it. One of the benefits of being a Guerrer.
Perhaps I should explain a little more of who I am. Being half human means that I blend in with humans, like I said before I have brown hair and brown eyes, a button nose plus I am about 160cm tall.
My vampire features are more hidden like, for instance, my fangs.
My fangs only lengthen and sharpen when I am in danger or scared. My other vampire features are my fingernails which grow pointed and my eyes that change colour depending on my mood. Guerrers also have healing abilities which means broken bones and tendons heal almost instantly, cuts seem to just disappear and the scars eventually fade too.
Tossing the blanket and pillow aside I stood up and looked around. The room was in even worse condition than I had realised, paint was peeling off the walls and the furniture looked about three hundred years old. Great.
Walking out of the room I discovered a flight of stairs leading up to the second story of the house which actually had quite a few stairs missing.
