"Hurry up your are going to be late Emilia," Emily's mom called out up the stairs.
"I told you not to call me that, my name is Emily." Emily retorted, as she put a shirt on over her head. She scurried down after her mom, and noticed the bread she had put in the toaster had popped out. She put it in her mouth, and raced out the house to her bus stop so she wouldn't be late. Upon arriving, the bus was already there, so she climbed onto it and took a seat by herself, listening to music as she gazed out the window.
After a good twenty minutes, their bus had finally reached the school. Emily got out and waited for the school doors to open on a bench."Here they come," she whispered to herself.
Who, you may be asking. Emily was talking about these two annoying girls, Jennifer and Rebecca, who call her fake, but in reality, they're the one's who are that way. She expected them to come up to her and tease her like they usually do. Instead, they don't bug her, but walk up to a guy that looks like a full on player. With several girls at his side, he has light brown hair, crystal blue eyes, and a pretty nice smile. He must have been new though, because Emily had not seen him before.
Her attention went back to the school doors, as she noticed that they were open. "Finally," she muttered. Gathering her belongings, she headed to her first class. The boy who Rebecca and Jennifer went up to earlier was in the class. Then when she went to her second class, guess who is in there? The same boy! During both classes, she would catch him staring at her, What a weirdo, she thought to herself.
When lunchtime finally comes, Emily sits at an empty table in the corner of the cafeteria, working on her AP calculus notes. Suddenly, Rebecca and Jennifer came over with the new boy, and sat beside her."Hey Emilia," Rebecca taunted.
"That's not my name," she stated, without making any eye contact.
"Are you sure about that?" Jennifer asked.
Emily took a sip of her milk, "Why are you here?"
"Well it is lunch period.."
I rolled my eyes, "I mean at my table."
"We need a little favor," replied Rebecca.
Emily scoffed, "Psh, you wish. I'm not helping you."
"I didn't say you had to," Rebecca quickly pulled my notes out of her hands.
"H-hey!" Emily tried to take them back, "Seriously! Give them back! You're not funny!"
"We're not trying to be," Jennifer remarked.
Emily looked towards the new boy for help, but he seemed just as surprised as her."Thanks a lot Emilia, we'll be sure to return them," she said sarcastically. They then got up and left.
Emily began to feel a heavy feeling in her chest. The new boy was still there, and he opened his mouth to say something, but Emily didn't even get the chance to. Throwing her backpack over her shoulder, she sped out of the lunchroom, heading to her locker. She exchanged textbooks and cleaned up a bit of running mascara in a mirror on her locker door. As soon as she shut it, someone tapped her shoulder. She turned around and BAM! someone punched her in the face. She gasped in pain and surprise, and to her shock, saw Rebecca and Jennifer, scowls upon their "pretty" little faces.
"Why did you do that!?" Emily cried out.
"You made us look bad in front of Jason," hissed Jennifer, punching her yet again.
Who's Jason? Emily wondered.
"Yeah, now he won't talk to us! And it's all your freaking fault!" Shrilled Rebecca. The two began taking turns hitting, punching, and kicking Emily. Eventually, Emily was shriveled on the floor, trying to shield herself from their blows. After about five minutes of this, non-stop violence, it came to an end. Emily remained on the floor, waiting for one of them to kick her again, but when no pain came, she slowly opened her eyes.
She saw that new boy yelling at them, shoving them away. He looked down towards her and stuck his hand out. Cautiously, Emily took his hand, and he helped her up.
"Can you stand?" he asked. His question was answered when Emily nearly fell back down. "I guess not," he startled her by picking her up bridal style, and carrying her towards the nurse's office.
"What are you doing?" Emily asked the boy.
"Those girls where beating you to death. What else was I supposed to do, let you die? I saved you." the boy replied.
"I was fine they do that all the time. You didn't need to step in, I'm used to it," Emily murmured, keeping her eyes off of him.
He raised her chin with his hand, forcing her to look him in the eyes, "That's something no one should be used to.'' From his tenseness and seriousness, Emily could tell he was really worried, and Emily it gave Emily a strange feeling inside. But little did she know that this was just the beginning of her twisted romance.
