Aoi honō

Chapter 1: escape

I'm surrounded by flickering blue flames, they lap at the place I once called home, it was being devoured by the flames. Searing pain runs up the left side of my body where the flesh has been eaten away by the fire. My wolf like ears flick as I hear the screams of my adopted family burning, tears roll down my face as I feel myself being dragged off by people in lab coats, but I don't fight them, I remain perfectly still.

I jolt awake my head almost hitting the fan. I sigh and lay my head back down on the pillow, my cheeks feel wet, I must have been crying in my sleep. I grunt in frustration "I should be use to this by now!" I yell and throw my fist into the air. I open my fist and look at my metal prosthetic arm, i wish I still had the other half of my body not all this metal cra... My thoughts were interrupted by a loud ringing over the speakers followed by a voice "could subject 103 please come to the testing room." I sigh, this is it, it's time, I'm going to escape.

I walk down the empty corridor in my hospital like gown, my metal leg making robotic noises with every step I take. I have everything planned in my head, I can do this. I walk into the testing room, there where a bunch of high tech machinery, colourful liquids and people running around everywhere. "Shiroi kage." I heard a tall scientist with dark hair call my name, I hate him, no I loathe him, he's a dirty pig that spends more time cheating on his wife then actually working, Not that I know anything about love though. I walk towards him and take my usual seat at a body scanning machine, as he was looking through his clip board I grabbed a needle from the desk next to the machine and hid it behind my back.

He looked at me and smiled with that disgusting mouth. "Ok shiroi I need to check your teeth, no biting ok?" I nodded at him innocently and opened my mouth, he leaned foward and started touching and feeling my teeth and gums. This is my perfect chance. My usually pale pink eyes turned bright red, I suddenly lept up and stabbed the man in the neck with the needle, he fell back and a pool of blood formed on the floor around his head. A loud siren sounded and I knew I had to make a break for the window, I jumped off the machine and ran towards the window. I was about a meter away from it when a muscly dark skinned man stood in front me pointing a gun at my head. "Gotcha now bitch." He smirked. I laughed menacingly and bared my sharp wolf like teeth at him. "I don't think so!" I yelled as I lept on him and sunk my teeth in to his neck causing him to die instantly. "Wait right there shiroi!" My ears flickered as I heard a loud voice. "There is no purpose for me to stay in this living hell." I jump through the window breaking the glass.

My white hair whips around my face  I fall from the building, the wind feels so good on my ears! I thought to myself. I sighed as I saw the ground approaching and changed into a standing position, I land on the ground gracefully and my hair falls to my side. I look around the busy streets of Tokyo figuring out where to go now but am interrupted by a small voice "Mommy why does she have doggy ears? And why is she covered in blood?" I turned to see a small child holding onto her mothers sleeve. My eyes widened and I ran and hid in an alley. I can't let anyone see me like this or I'll get caught! I sat on the alley floor and touched my face that was now covered in fresh blood from the scientists. "I need to get myself cleaned up." As I said that I stood but was stopped by someone forcefully shoving me against the alley wall.

I look up and see two men in dark clothing in front of me. "Hey there cutie how abouts we have some fun?" He grinned sickeningly at me. Crap I used most of my energy escaping how am I suppose to fight them off! I thought to myself. "Oooh a hybrid, and she's has half a prosthetic body too, this could be fun!" The other man stepped forward and placed his hand on the metal side of my chest. "Don't touch me!" I growled at him. "What you gonna do about it short stuff?" They both laughed at me. I felt humiliated, now being able to defend myself against pathetic humans, hopefully after they're done I can just continue with searching. I close my eyes, just letting them do what they want. Just as one of them was reaching for my breast a loud voice interrupted them. "Hey what do you think your doing! Leave her alone!" A tall thin boy with red hair stood at the entrance to the alley. The two men let me go and walked towards the boy, "stupid boy what does he think he's doing!" I whisper to myself. I watch as the men knock him to the ground and start kicking him in the gut. I can't just sit and let this happen, I'll use the rest of my strength, not to save the boy but to kill those two assholes. I stumbled to my feet and started moving towards them, my eyes turning red as I walk. "Oi!" The two men turn to look at me, but before they could talk I slashed there throats with my claws, blood spurting everywhere. I look down and see the boy, his eyes filled with not fear, but fascination, that's the last thing I see before I fall to the ground and pass out.
