Alex PoV

I sat in silence outside the hospital room in wait for the doctor, to hopefully come out with good news. I can feel the tears dripping from my face land onto my lap. I'm not alone though; Jake came to as he arrived minutes after the accident happened.

Its not nice you know, to find your mum lying unconscious on the ground with a big bruise where her temple is. Not only that but there was a bullet in her left thigh. I came out to my mum the minute I heard the gun go off outside the house. Except the gunman left without anyone, except my mum, seeing who he was. Which is why I want my mum to wake up so bad to tell us what he looked like, so I can kill him.

Ok so not kill him, but I want him gone for good. Just at that moment the doctor cam out of my mum's hospital room.

"Family of Melissa Le Rose Demie?" the doctor called out not to loudly.

"Here, doctor. I'm her daughter Alexandra Le Rose Demie." I introduce myself. "And this is my friend Jake." Jake gestured a small wave.

"I apologise Jake, but only family members are allowed in at this moment." The doctor showed an apologetic look towards Jake.

"It's ok, I can wait." Jake replied to the doctor. "Ill be waiting for you out here, ok?" Jake turned to me.

"No its ok you can go if you want t-" Jake interrupted me by placing his hand under my chin.

"I will be waiting no matter what you say." As he was saying this, he lifted my head gently to look him in the eyes. Right now I didn't care that I barely new the guy, he was here to comfort me at a time like this.

"Ok, thankyou." I leave Jake to follow the doctor into my mum's room. As I walk in the first thought to come to mind is wires and tubes. She had tubes coming out of her arms and neck leading up to a big machine to her right. I never thought I would ever see this sight, never thought I would see it again that is.

"At the moment your mums in a recovery sleep so her body can get used to the medicine we put in her. She has a cracked skull but no damage toward the brain up here," the doctor explained pointing to a bandage around my mum's head. "We were also able to remove the bullet from her leg as it wasn't to deep in her leg. We would imagine the gunman shot this into her leg as they were running away, so from a distance." So far the police haven't found any information about the attack so this guess from the doctors point of view is all we have right now, and its not really helping.

"Is she going to be ok, sir?" He might say that there was not much physical injury but it still looked pretty severe.

"Well luckily the hit to the head was on the left side of her head so it didn't increase her tumour bu-"

"What do you mean tumour?" I interrupt the doctor. He must be mistaken; my mum is as healthy as ever.

"The brain tumour in your mums head." The doctor had full confidence behind the fact that my mum had cancer.

"She can't or else she would of told me!" I'm getting irritated now. My mum has cancer and didn't tell me?! How could she not tell her only child?! "Is the tumour bad?" I ask with hope that its not bad.

"I'm so sorry; its grade 4" The doctor gave me a sympathetic look. It was at that moment when I broke. Tears came flowing out of me like I've never cried before. My mum had one of the worst kinds of cancer that you could have and didn't tell me? And now she's in hospital because she was shot in the leg and knocked out.

"HOW COULD SHE NOT TELL ME?! SHE COULD DIE FROM THIS!!" and then it went black.

After Alex went into that room, I became worried. She looked so vulnerable and scared, like a deer in the headlights. She didn't deserve this, at all. Especially with the things that my 'friends' say about her. The things they say are so hurtful. They call her a 'slut' 'attention whore' and more things along those lines. I want to see those pussies to go and say it to her face! They couldn't. They're just a bunch of pussies with cash.

I move closer toward the door to see if I can here hear anything. I can't hear them fully but I hear the doctor say something along the lines of grade 4. Whatever that means.

"HOW COULD SHE NOT TELL ME?! SHE COULD DIE FROM THIS!!" I hear Alex screaming through the door. What does she mean she could die from this? Does she mean herself or her mum? Just after that I hear a loud THUD come from the room.

"Alex?" I whisper. The doctor comes bursting out of the room calling for help.

"I NEED HELP, THIS PERSON PASSED OUT. BRING A STRETCHER QUICK!" Did Alex pass out? What happened?

"Excuse me doctor, what happened?!" The doctor gestured me to follow him as he got Alex on a stretcher. He and four other doctors raced Alex to another room down the hall. As soon as we reached the room they unloaded Alex and settled her down onto the bed. "Can someone please tell me what's happening?" no one must've heard me as they started shuffling quickly through the small room. "Hello, what's wrong?!" I asked a little louder this time but still no one heard me. "EXCUSE ME! WHAT'S WRONG WITH ALEX?!?" I yell to get their attention. I guess I yelled quite loudly as not only did I get the doctors attention, but Alex woke up like a bolt.

"Jake?..." Alex looks fatigued and startled.

"Babe, its ok, its just me." I just called her babe. I just called her babe. WHY DID I CALL HER BABE? OH MY GOD she's going to be mad! We haven't even gone out before and I'm calling her babe.

"Jake?..." She asks again. Maybe she didn't here me. Phew.

"Yes Alex." I ask slightly louder this time.

"JAKE?!?" She's yelling now. She is looking at me but she's not looking at me. "JAKE WHERE ARE YOU?!"

"I'm right here Lex, see?" I stand in front of her and slowly rest my hand on her shoulder. She flinches at my touch.

"Excuse me," The doctor ushers past me to get towards Alex. After he checks a few times over Alex he turns to me sternly. "Sir, we would appreciate it if you were to leave the room for a moment." He gestures to the door, still keeping the stern look on his face.

"B-but what about Alex?" I ask, worry obviously staining my face. "What happened to her?"

"Sir, please don't start an argument. Please leave the room." He asks once more.

"Just don't hurt her! Please, don't hurt her." I demand leaving the room.
