Prologue

Piled upon the dew covered grass, the delicate red-orange leaves whirled around me, dancing as they glisten under their frosted cloaks. The sun, claiming them and the maple tree, under it's mystifying colors.

"Where do I go from here?" I asked myself. I've been lost for so long, being oppressed and controlled, hidden from most of the world for so long, and now, now I must choose my journey.

I walked the dirt pathway down the road from my home, stopping at a darkened memory from so long ago.

"Ready? Now, it's the kids turn to seek! Go inside and count." I say with a smirk on my face. I've always loved this game my dad started. Ninja hide and seek, all the kids and my dad would play every Halloween eve. This year, Sam and I got to be the ninjas. I've always been good at staying quiet, patient, and awaiting my next move. It's like a chess game in a way. It'll be dusk in about an hour, just enough shade to keep hidden, but not enough for the kids to get too cold or scared. "They do have flashlights though," I thought with a smirk.

"Crap! Where'd Sam go?" I whisper under my breath. Just then, there was a few crunches and whispers a few yards away.
"It's just my luck that I get lost in my own head," I thought quickly as I take the advantage of them possibly finding my cousin and book it to my next hiding spot, whilst staying in the shadows.

My new hiding spot, across the dirt road, that leads to the water department, from my house to the neighbors side is a mini hill and lots of full pine trees.
"I'm going to check over here!" I hear little Zack yell from the front yard as he runs closer to my hiding spot. "If I crouch down closer to the trees he shouldn't be able to see me since I'm in all black." I thought to myself.

As I take a step back, I loose my footing, falling like a stiff statue trying to be as quiet as possible to not give myself away. In doing so, I smack my head as darkness consumes me. A memory of a dark figure with light or glowing eyes stood above me. Friend or foe? I'm not quite sure.

The next thing I remember is waking up to everyone yelling out my name saying they give up and that I had won. Cold sweat sheathed my body, my head was not as sore as it should of been, but I could barely see a thing. Realization struck me that night had fallen, how long had I been out?

Funny thing is, at the time the only thing I thought about was how happy I was that I won. With the dark figure in the back of my mind and my miraculous healing but a whisper in the wind, now I wonder if this is but another missing piece to the puzzle that is my life.

A rustling of leaves brought me back to my current reality. Little baby squirrels scurrying about and up a tree. It warms my heart, at all the beauty we have just in our back yard. I never once want to lose it.

Author's note:
This will be another story that's under construction. I wrote these so long ago as a way to just express myself but I miss writing and plus I know how crappy it is to start reading a story just to have it stop. I'm sorry! There will be a plan in place, just bare with me!
