Chapter 9
I had climbed up into my black shiny carriage holding onto the ancient book of Vampires going back towards the beginning of time. I sat back and watched the daylight fade into an evening sky. Time for me to talk to my sisters about the book. This day should bring news I had searched for over a thousand years. What will I find turning the old faded yellow pages smelling of an ancient scent I knew so well. I closed the book again waiting to arrive at my dark palace on the outskirts of London.
I was a unusual Vampire because I could walk in sunlight and my sisters who were full Vampires could not at first until I gave them a drop of my blood. Then a week later they could feel the sunlight on their up turned faces. I had strong powers I had not used for centuries because if I did the human race may try and kill all us supernatural creatures in the world. We lived among them since god made Adam and Eve. We roamed the earth as well but somewhere else in time. No not hell somewhere neither here nor there.
From our first meeting Natasha was my little fairy spitfire. Her clear blue eyes always flashing fire at me when we were together. I had thought courting her would be easy. I thought wrong. I sunk down into the carriage black velvet seating amused I had found a real match after centuries of being alone. The slight problem was Natasha was none the wiser. Being a patient vampire I will have a little fun with her. Toying was a strong point of mine.
The carriage continued to rock as the horses moved me onto my home. I moved my head to glance out the glass window seeing the cold silver gates up ahead of where I lived. When we were closer the gates opened for my arrival yes you see I knew more about the future then these humans did. Yes I was smug about this tiny fact. I had met a few future jumpers in my time of walking the earth and we swapped idea's from time to time and one introduced me to solar energy from the 21st century. I felt the carriage move up after I heard the gates clang shut calming me down enfolded in my home.
I glanced up satisfied I had now reached the large brooding house we lived at. Creeping Vines crept around the dark brick work in different shades of green. The door opened by my carriage driver Henry who had worked for me since I found him long ago a starving teenager I at first wanted to kill and feed on his blood in the 1500's before I married Susannah. I let him live for a while until he grew up then I turned him into a vampire like all my servants were.
"Thank you Henry" I said when he opened the door for me. I jumped on down onto the stones under my feet. I gave with a quick nod I was fine to enter inside. Henry quickly left me getting back into the drivers seat trotting away into the stables around the back of the house.
Before I was even near the door our elderly Butler opened the door pleased to see me. "Thank you Malcolm" I said stepping inside giving him my coat and scarf to hang up. Nodding he stepped back from me closing the door behind me and left to tender his chores.
I saw my three sisters in the living room with the fire going reading a book together and chatting. I stood staring at all of them all wanting a good match for them all either a human or supernatural like us. They still had not seen me stand in the shadows when they started to chat about the social scene. I had to smile when Miriam the younger one replied they are all insipid these English men she had recently met. The other two reminded Miriam she did not have to marry these human boys she could go to a club the Hastings men attended.
I had heard enough of the girlish chatter when I made myself known. "Miriam, I answered calm why did you not tell me you disliked the human social balls?"
They all jumped hearing me speak when they were not aware I was standing in listening. "Brother, they spoke ill at ease tell us you did not hear everything we spoke?"
"Unfortunately I did dear sister's, I said moving into the light of the fire. I sat down opposite Miriam, so you do not want to go to another human event?"
"I didn't say no to all just some of them brother" I heard little Miriam say her soulful eyes twinkling at me.
"What about you two I nodded at my other sisters sitting next to Miriam would you like a match for you?"
All three girls oggled me surprised I asked them as well? "We don't mind brother dear as long as we love them the oldest reminded me of her terms. I nodded my head and turned towards my middle sister and you what of you? Brother I just want to be happy finding my soul mate if he is out there?"
Miriam was the only stubborn one who did not wish to search for her mate. "You do not have to meet your mate Miriam I told her here among the insipid English boys I heard you quote I said amused I could send you three to another part of the world maybe America, France, just name the place?"Brother I saw Miriam roll her eyes at me I have already been to France for school I do not intend to go over again chatting to frogs her tone Implied she meant every word. I stared at her sitting in the middle on the golden settee. The candle light flickered over all three waiting for my answer. Miriam dressed in a pastel yellow shade of dress with ruffles around the neck and sleeves. I then turned my attention towards Olga the hoity toity one dressed in a Aqua shade to match her colouring.
What about you Olga where in the world would you rather be to find your mate? Olga smiled a wide smile before laughing at me amused I would rather stay here in England so I never find him was her come back.
My face must have shown how I was feeling when my third sister reacted by saying I'd like to travel to America.
Well I'm letting you know we will be staying in London for the time being girls I stated. I have found the book I had been searching for.You found the Book all three chorused?
Yes indeed I smiled the Ancient book on Vampires I told them. All three came over to me kneeling beside me can we see the book I heard all three say?
Right now I will have to say no due to I have no idea what I will find out about our Bloodlines and if I will find my Ex Wife and child I replied gruff.
I hope you find out about all our secrets brother.
Yes so do I dear sister's.
How did you find the book Miriam asked in her sweet tone?
Let's just say Natasha Hastings showed me the way.
Natasha asked Miriam? Why would she want with a ancient book on Vampires?
If I knew Miriam why she wanted the book I'd tell you I told her rather curious myself. Let's all give a big thank you to Natasha for helping me in my find I picked up the golden goblet as did my sister's filled with red wine and blood. We toasted to the find and Natasha my chosen Vampire bride one day soon.
