I woke up with a jolt feeling two small bundles jumping on top of me. I rolled over on my back and opened my eyes to see my two little angels. The twins were almost three and stared down at me with wide eyes and happy grins.
"Wake up momma!" My little girl said bouncing up and down on her hands and knees. Her name was Autumn and was growing to fast for her momma with her beautiful green eyes and her ability of speech.
My son nodded excitedly copying his sister in bouncing. His little monkey ears poked out on either side of his head and his wide blue eyes glittered. He was named Dallas.
I knew exactly why they were up so early in the morning but I pretended otherwise and rolled over closing my eyes like I was going back to sleep. "Why should I wake up?" I said dramatically sleepy.
"Christmas!" Dallas yelled happily bouncing more vigorously.
At the same time Autumn piped up saying, "It's Christmas!"
I smiled at their excitement. "Alright I'm coming,"
The twins squealed happily and clambered off my bed before running out of the room and down the hallway. I sat up and before standing up I leaned over and rubbed my husbands short hair kissing his temple. I stood up and put on my robe for extra warmth over my pajamas and headed out into the hallway and down the stairs to the living room where the twins were already playing and sorting through the presents under the large blue-decorated tree trying to figure out which ones was theirs with their inability to read. Shocked and proud that they didn't just rip into the first present they saw I got their stockings that were hanging on the wall handing each child their own.
"Open these first." I said with a light smile.
The twins whooped excitedly before sorting through their stockings, Dallas dumping the contents onto the ground and Autumn pulling one item out at a time. I stood over them watching their growing happiness from each present. I jumped slightly when I felt two strong arms encircle me from behind and I smiled turning my head to see my husband resting his chin on my shoulder. I placed my hands on his arms giving a soft squeezed and he squeezed my waist in return.
"Merry Christmas babe." He said with a smile.
"Merry Christmas Michael." I replied. He leaned in and kissed me softly much to the disgust of our two children.
"Ewwwww!" Autumn booed soon joined by her brother.
Michael and I laughed and we went over to the tree sorting the gifts for the twins. Once each twin had their stack of presents and were ripping into them we both sat on the soft couch his arm around me. "Babe?" He said. I turned my head to look at him and saw that he was holding a small silver wrapped box with a white bow on it.
With a large smile containing my excitement I took the box from him and pulled the top off. Inside was a silver heart shaped necklace with a diamond on it. "Oh Michael it's beautiful." I whispered looking up from the box to look at his smiling face. He had wide ears to match his son and blue eyes to continue the similarities.
He leaned in to steal another kiss that I was eagerly ready to return but our kids jumping into our laps interrupted us, Autumn pushing her hand onto my mouth to stop me from kissing her father. "No kissing!" She said still smiling. I laughed my arms encircling her in a warm hug and Dallas being jealous tried pushing his sister aside to get to me and I moved one arm to include him. Michael leaned forward opposite of me hugging his family. I closed my eyes resting my chin on top of Dallas's head loving this warm moment of my family on Christmas morning. It was perfect.
