"Good practice guy's, I'll see you tomorrow, remember to get enough sleep and rest before tomorrow's game." Yells coach Marvin.
Tomorrow we have our first football game of the season. I'm psyched up and ready. As I pack up my shoulder pads, My good friend Daniel walks up.
"Sup, bro" he hollers. "Hey" I reply back.
"Yo, have you asked Monica to the dance yet?" he asks.
That's when I remember that the school's "Welcome Back" dance is next week and I still haven't asked Monica to go with me yet.
"No" I tell him sheepishly. "Well you should do it quickly, this year the girls are being picked up like candy at a 6 year olds birthday party." he says in his corny southern accent.
You see, Daniel is from Texas which explains his accent that stands out here in Western California. He and I are in the same grade though he's a whole head shorter than me. His hair is brown and in a constant cowlick that he can't seem to comb down. And what he lacks in height, he makes up for in muscle. I mean he's actually quite ripped.
As I'm walking off the field, I see her. Monica is there standing with the other cheerleaders (she's the captain). I see her flowing black hair swinging gently in the breeze. She's in her cheering uniform which looks great against the chocolate color of her curvy body. She also has the most beautiful and caring hazel eyes that are always so bright and twinkly.
Her friends are walking away saying goodbye which leaves her standing alone. I notice that I'm staring at her, but by then it's too late. She looks at me and smiles, our eyes meeting for just a second before I turn away in shame.
I realize that this is my chance, but I turn around and notice that she has started walking away.
So, I gather my courage and jog up to her.
