Chapter 1

Shane's POV:

"Where is he?" I ask my best friend Clarisse who's been calling Jonathan for about an hour already.

"He's not answering his phone, he's late for about an hour now, the visitors are already going home, it's late, you should probably go home, maybe he has his own reason why he didn't show up tonight", she whisper yelled and smiled trying to comfort me.

Tonight's are engagement night and he didn't show up, I've been calling his phone and his apartment but no one's answering and I'm getting worried. What if something happened to him? i can't get the thought out of my mind. This is the first time I've been worried about him. What if he really don't want to marry me? What if he doesn't really love me? Urrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggg...what's happening to me???

He proposed to me last month when he came back from his business trip in Paris. I'm working as his secretary for 2 years now, He's arrogant and rude during my first day and I didn't expect him to notice me after 2 months. He is also a well-known player so who would have thought that Jonathan Rick, the CEO of RICK Hotels and Restaurants, one of the top Hotels and Restaurants in the whole world would be interested in someone like me, just me, Shane Reed an ordinary girl without parents and I don't even know if I have some relatives. We've been dating for a month before I became his girlfriend. I'm so surprised when he proposed and planned our engagement to be held in their own Hotel here in California but then he didn't show up.

"Hey, earth to Shane", I heard Clarisse getting me out of my thoughts.

"You have to go home, let's talk about these tomorrow, I know you're exhausted", she sighed before fixing her bag.

"Okay, I'm going to see him in his apartment before going home", I fake a smile reassuring her that I'm fine which is not true.

"Okay, see you tomorrow then", she grab her bag before she drags me out of the Hotel where one of his cars awaits for me to send me home.

"Ma'am, are you okay?", Diego, the driver ask me.

"Yeah, I'm fine, take me to his apartment", I faked smiled.

His apartment is about an hour drive from the hotel so I tried to call him again but still he's not answering. I don't even know what to think anymore. I tried to call his apartment but it just keep on ringing. Is somebody even home? Maybe I should just wait for him there.

It feels like years before we reach our destination. Diego park the car in the garage so i went inside. I have my own key in his apartment so we have no problem. His room is located at the back right of the apartment so you couldn't see if someone's around if you're at the entrance.

I stepped on something so i switch on the light in the living room. I can't move from my spot when because of what i saw. Clothes are scattered on the floor. His clothes and a woman's clothes and that's where it hits me. He didn't show up at our engagement party because he's engage in doing something with someone.

I can't stop my tears from falling. I don't know what to do so I stand there for about five minutes to fixed myself.

How could he do this to me?

I slowly entered his bedroom witnessing whatever their doing in bed. They didn't even notice me so I cleared my throat. He stared at me in shock and confusion then suddenly guilt flashed in his eyes before they turn into a cold one.

"Brittany, get out!!", he shouted at the frightened blonde b***.

"What?, Who is she?", she asked but Jonathan just look at her before she get out of the room.

" Oh well, my fiance is here to visit me and witnessed what i just did", he coldly stated with his signature smirk.

Well, i'm strong enough not to be bothered by his words now.

" Uh, yeah i did. It's not surprising though", i smiled.

"So?", he asked with shock expression before it's gone.

"Well, I'm here to return your ring, after all it's not meant for me, so see you at the office sir", I smiled and put the ring in his bedside table before leaving.
