I never thought I'd have to write this poem

But i...

I want to tell you a story

                 fear

                           the most powerful thing

                                                i have ever known

but what have i ever known?

                          if i talk too much

                                                      please stop me                

                                                                  because this story is hard to tell

                                                                                                                                  to hear

                                                                                                                                                to know

and all that i have ever known

                                                            hurts

but it should never hurt you

once upon a time i was a tale

of things better left unsaid

it has been a long time since secrets weren't what they are

weapons

i can't say i remember the taste of tears

but i do remember the taste of the weapon

the weight of it lodged between my teeth

i was

            young

                         afraid

                                    threatened

would any of that make a difference?

                                                                        i still said nothing.
