Going to a club seems like a good idea to her. Getting drunk while surrounded by a bunch of strangers appeals to her right about now. She doesn't want to think about anyone or anything. Even though her mind is filled with thoughts of Hannah. She hates that she probably hurt her. She hates herself for it. So why not just get wasted? She hadn't been to the store for a few days. She called in sick the days she knew Hannah was working. The blonde is aware that she's acting childish and should just own up to the fact that she made a mistake but she doesn't want to admit it. What she did was horrible and she doesn't ever want to be reminded. Although, she does miss Hannah. Eventually, she knows, she'll have to face Hannah and apologize but she's not ready for that yet. At least that's what she tells herself. Drinking her worries away instead of facing them, seems like a great thing to do tonight.
Grace puts on a tight grey dress and some pink heels. Showing up at a club alone is pretty embarrassing but all she wants to do is get drunk and dance a bit. She calls an uber to drive her to a random club in town. When she arrives, it's 11 pm and the club is pretty packed. She goes straight to the bar and orders a round of shots. The only thought that's flowing through her mind is Hannah. She misses her lisp. She misses her smile. And oh god she misses the way her lips move perfectly with her own. She misses her company and her touch so much. She takes a few more shots and turns around in her seat. Wait. Is that Hannah? Grace squints her eyes at the woman on the dance floor. Nah. It can't be. Maybe the alcohol is getting to my head. Grace believes that she's thinking about Hannah too much that her mind is envisioning her. But wait. She's walking toward the bar. With a girl. A pretty girl. Grace blinks a few times. Yup. She's still there. She knows she's not imagining this when she hears Hannah's laugh. Hannah and another blonde are sitting about ten seats away from Grace, laughing and drinking. Who is that girl? Grace doesn't think she recognizes her. Wait. Is Hannah on a date? The thought makes Grace clench her fists. She's not gonna even try and pretend that she's not jealous. Because she most definitely is. She keeps watching the two women and then Hannah leans really close to the blonde and kisses her. No. That's most definitely not okay. The tequila in her system tells her to walk over there and say hi to Hannah. And that she does. She's wobbles over to Hannah and puts her hand on her shoulder.
"Hannah! Hey! I didn't know you come here. What's up?" Grace slurs.
Hannah's face drops as she realizes who's interrupted her.
"Grace?" She furrows her brows. She looks back at her date, Addy, and tries to say sorry with her eyes but Addy doesn't seem to accept this apology.
"Who's this, Hannah?" Addy glares.
"Oh uh sorry. Grace, Addy. Addy, Grace." Hannah introduces. Grace smiles and sticks her hand out to Addy. The shorter blonde ignores it and sneers.
"I work with Hannah. She's my employee," Grace smirks. "Isn't that right Han?"
Hannah nods nervously. She looks back at Addy and cringes when she sees the jealously in her eyes.
"Oh gosh. Did I interrupt something?" Grace asks.
"Uh yeah kinda," Addy says.
Wow. Hannah really doesn't like how Addy is reacting to this. She's being really rude and she's not into that.
"Whoops! I'm sorry! I'll just go then..." Grace turns.
"No. Stay," Hannah grabs Grace's wrist and spins her around.
"Excuse me?" Addy says, glaring at her like Hannah's just murdered her dog or something.
"You can hang with us if you'd like Grace. No biggie," Hannah offers.
"No she can't," Addy stands up and practically gets in Grace's face. "Back off whore, she's mine," Addy shoves Grace a little bit.
Grace starts laughing because is this bitch really trying to fight her right now?
"Don't you ever say that she's your property again! She's no one's property," Grace raises her voice a little bit, stepping closer to the angry girl.
"Whatever bitch just hop off. She's on a date with me not you!" Addy shoves Grace a little harder this time.
"Listen here, bitch. No one, and I mean no one, calls me a bitch. So you better watch your mouth," Grace threatens.
Hannah is now trying to get in between the two women to break the fight up but it's not seeming to work.
"Fine. You can have her. She's nothing to me anyway. If you'll excuse me, I have a hotter date to get to," Addy smirks.
"Hannah. You better get out of the fucking way right now," Grace says to the shocked girl, who is still attempting to get in between them
"What? Why?" Hannah asks, not moving away.
"Hannah trust me. Move," Grace says sternly. Hannah obeys and moves away from the girls. Grace smiles as she loosens her grip on Addy's shirt. Just as Addy thinks she's being let go, a fist collides with her cheek. Grace had punched her in the face.
It felt good, to be honest. She knows she never would have done that if it weren't for her friend tequila who gave her the courage to. She leans down towards Addy, on the floor.
"She's not nothing. She's everything to me," Grace yells.
When Grace finally comes to her senses, she looks at Hannah. Hannah is speechless and dumbfounded. Grace assumes she's really mad so she apologizes.
"I'm sorry. I-I'm just...sorry."
And with that, Grace leaves the club. She leans against the brick building outside and sighs. She begins to silently cry when she realizes that she just messed up big time. She punched a girl in the face. That's not her. She would never do that. But she did. And of all people, it had to be Hannah's date. Oh god, she probably messed things up with Hannah, forever. A few minutes later she hears the door to the club open. She looks to her left and sees Hannah staring at her in the jacket she got her. She smiles at the memory but then remembers that this is not a happy matter. Hannah steps closer to her until she's in front of Grace.
"That wa-" Hannah starts but Grace cuts her off.
"I know! I'm so sorry! I don't know what got into me, Han. She was saying all these terrible things about you and I don't know, I guess it just made me mad because you're so great and you're so important and she didn't even realize how lucky she was to even spend time with you and I just needed her to shut up so I guess I just thought punching her in the face was a good idea but now I don't thi-"
"Grace shush. That was the nicest thing anyone's ever done for me," Hannah says.
"What?" Grace asks, confused.
"You stood up for me. You care," Hannah hesitates. "Did you really mean what you said?"
"Mean what?" Grace asks.
"You said I was everything to you."
Grace is silent for a moment.
"Hannah. Oh gosh," She hesitates, "I can't stop thinking about you. I fucked up. Real bad. For some reason I thought I was just using you but now that I've been without you for what seems like forever, I realize that I wasn't. I really do like you, Hannah. I do."
Hannah doesn't react, she just smiles slightly. She glances at Grace's hand and she sees bruising starting to form.
"Let's get you home. We can ice your hand okay?"
It's silent in the Uber. They're not talking at all. Grace wonders if it's because Hannah is still mad at her. She doesn't blame her if she is. She has the right to be. But she really does want Hannah. She realized that she actually has feelings for her and she hopes Hannah can forgive her. They get to Hannah's house and she unlocks the door. Grace sits on the couch as Hannah sifts through the kitchen. She grabs some ice and puts it in a sandwich bag.
"This is the closest thing to an ice pack I have," Hannah says, holding up the ice. Hannah places the ice gently on Grace's knuckles and holds it there.
"Thank you," Grace blushes.
After a few minutes, Hannah takes the ice away and looks at the bruises. Grace notices and sighs.
"I'm sorry, Hannah. I shouldn't have made a scene like that."
Hannah looks up at her and frowns.
"Don't be sorry. You were defending me. I'm glad I saw who that bitch really was." Hannah laughs a bit.
"Do you think I hurt her?" Grace asks.
"Mmmmm I think you hit her hard enough to get the message across but not hard enough for her to press charges," Hannah states.
"Well good...Hannah?" Grace frowns.
"Yeah?"
"I'm sorry for everything that happened last week. Mamrie was wrong. I do have actual feelings for you but I can see why she didn't think that. I didn't go about it in a good way. We kinda just made out and didn't talk about it so it wasn't healthy for either of us," Grace apologizes.
Hannah just nods silently and looks down.
Grace leans in closer to Hannah so that she's forced to look at her.
"So how about we do it the right way this time?" Grace smirks.
Hannah smiles and nods.
"Would you like to go out on a date with me tomorrow after work?" Grace winks.
"I would like that very much," Hannah bites her lip, leaning in for a kiss.
"No! Not so fast. The kiss is supposed to be after the date," Grace jokes.
"Fuck off," Hannah laughs as she closes the distance between them.Grace's shift ends at 5 and Hannah's ends at 6 so Grace has time to go home and get ready for the date. She's taking Hannah to the beach and she's packing a basket with food. It's cliché, she knows. A picnic on the beach is what all the romance novels include but she thinks Hannah will like the cheesiness of it. Besides, they can be alone and maybe swim. When she gets home she throws on her bikini and puts a sundress over it. She takes her hair down from the updo it was in and takes off her makeup. She re-applies mascara and a light pink gloss. She feeds Goose and now she's ready to go. She grabs the picnic basket and heads out, towels in hand.
