I woke up and saw the sun shining through my window. I got up to get ready for the Saturday ahead of me.
I put on a plain red shirt. I combed out my hair and ran downstairs to say good morning to my parents.
"Good morning!" I told my mom.
"Good morning, Drake!" My mom replied with a smile.
My dad was sitting on the couch scratching a lottery ticket. I don't know why he even bothered anymore, because he never won the lottery.
"What are you making for breakfast?" I asked my mother.
"I'm making eggs, waffles, and bacon. Your favorite!" My mom explained.
"Yummy!" I responded.
"Also, Drake I have a surprise for you. Go look outback!" My mom excitedly told me.
I walked towards the door and opened it. I walked outside, but I didn't see anything. Then, I heard a soft bell and I saw a puppy.
"Mom! A puppy?" I asked.
"I know you've been wanting a dog, so I got one for you." My mom explained.
I walked towards the dog and picked it up. It licked me in my face. He was a light brown lab. He was small, but I knew he was going to get bigger.
"Thank you so much!" I exclaimed.
"You are welcome, honey." My mom responded.
I grabbed my new puppy and walked inside to show my dad.
Right when I walked through the doorway, I heard my dad yell.
"7...7...7! I won! I won!" He yelled.
"You won?" My mom and I asked at the same time.
"Yes! I won fifty thousand dollars!" He yelled.
My dad yelled 'I won' and jumped around for a while.
"Can we go to the dog store to get supplies for my new dog?" I asked, ignoring my dad, acting like a five year old.
"No need to." My mom continued as she brought out a box. "This box has all the supplies for your dog. Speaking of your dog, he needs a name."
"Okay, I will go to my room with my dog and find inspiration for a dog name." I replied.
My mom gave me a smile and I grabbed the box with the dog supplies. I started heading up the stairs to my room.
I sat on my bed, petting my dog. I was trying to come up with a name that matches him.
Oliver? No.
Charley? No.
Harold? No.
Hunter? Yes!
Hunter was the perfect name. He seemed like a Hunter.
I ran downstairs to tell my mom the name I had come up with.
She loves the name, so my dog's name was officially Hunter.
"Can I take Hunter for a walk?" I asked.
"Go ahead." My mother responded to me.
I put my Hunter's harness on and I connected it to a leash.
Then, I started my walk with my new dog.
