Sebastian
Mom was a sucker for first. She documented my first everything as a baby and she was always enthusiastic about the first days of school. She'd take photos just before I leave and tell me "Today is going to be a great day!" Her enthusiasm was always infectious and so I've always went on first days a lot happier. But of course she's not around anymore. No one to tell me it's going to be a great day or smile at me and tell me to always take care. It has been that way for five years now. No point in wallowing in the past.
I look at myself at my brand new mirror and I heard her voice as I was fixing my hair. "Today is going to be a great day Seb!" It was also the same thing she said every day when she was sick. It was the same thing she said in the morning before she died at night.
Yeah, that's bullshit.

I met my friends at the parking lot in our school. Michael was already there along with Jake and Lucas
They were already eying a few freshmen, probably looking for the next target. Some people gave us a wide berth because they were kind of afraid of us. There are a few girls who were daring enough to try to get out attention. I don't get them really. They all know what we do.
"Did you see her though?" I heard Jake ask Michael as I was approaching
"See who?" I said and they all turned to me.
"Hey man" Jake greeted
"Remember the chick I told you about" Michael said.
"Yeah?"
"Well she goes here" Lucas said before Michael could continue
"Yeah she came in here riding that motorcycle" Michael pointed out the black motorcycle a few spots from where we were.
"So we got a badass wannabe huh?" I said.
"Who wears glasses, yeah" Michael said.
"Yeah well she' looks okay with those glasses." Lucas shrugged.
"I don't see the big deal" Michael said
"Yeah well can we stop talking about this chick? It's starting to get on my nerves" I snapped
They all shut up. They were acquainted with my temper and knew when things are just about to get ugly.
"Transferees were rare here but I don't see the big deal too." I said and then I started to walk away.
First day went like how it was supposed to be. Exchanging pleasantries asking what you did in the summer and more mindless chatter. Some of them also talked about the transferee. I shut them all out and before I knew it time slipped by. Several classes passed by and I have yet to see the girl they were all talking about.
Lunch came and I got a glimpse of the new girl. She was walking around with Marco and his other friends the twins, the hippie blonde and the drummer. True enough she was wearing a pair of black rimmed glasses. Everything about her seemed rugged from her shoes to her jacket save for her hair which fell down way past her shoulders in soft waves. She was pretty alright but the thing that caught my attention was her laughter. It was loud and clear and she threw her head backing while doing so. She reminded me of the time when mom was alive when she would laugh and throw her head back too. I got a little angry at that.
Guess I found my new target.
