//Damien's POV//
I arrived at the hospital and saw Jenny pacing back and forth.
"They took her down for an emergency surgery, internal bleeding somewhere near her lungs." Jenny said holding her tears in.
"And then what happens?" I asked, I wasn't sure how they worked the whole hospital thing here, I assume it's the same.
"We pray that he doesn't escape and come to finish her off." David's croaky voice rang across the waiting room.

I sat for what felt like weeks, waiting for some news. Every nurse that went by flashed us sad looks or an apologetic smile. Sympathy, i hated it. A police officer walked in.
"I'm inspector Tens with the-" he began.
"Thanks, we get it." David snapped.
"We're here to ask you some questions."
"We knew about her abuse, we couldn't report it because she would face consequences, he wriggles his way out of everything and no, she didn't aggravate him, she's the sweetest girl I've ever met and she's just 19, so please tell me how she could possibly have known this was going to happen."
"We know everything, we just wanted to know whether she would have a lawyer and was able to stand up in court?"
"I'll arrange a lawyer and a report from her but I won't allow her near him." I said, emotionless. "Any chance he gets, could make the mental pain worse or he will lunge."
"Okay, that is fine, some relation?"
"Damien Ford, not sure what me and her are."
"Oh, alright." He nodded his goodbye and wanted to know as soon as she was able to talk and report what happened.

//Bella's POV//
I woke up to a beeping noise, I groaned and inhaled sharply, I winced and pulled off the oxygen mask. I looked around and blinked a few times. I groaned and laid back down. I looked over towards the window, it was dark out. I looked around for a mirror or a clock. I tried sitting up but felt drowsy. My head snapped up when the door opened.
"Well aren't you a sight for sore eyes, hey sweetheart, your injuries to your face aren't bad." The nurse said walking in.
"Always avoided the face." I mumbled, my throat feeling dry and scratchy.
"I'll go get a doctor, there's some people to see you and the police want a report." She said smiling, I simply looked away. I hated the look of sympathy.

The doctor walked in with a smile and stood next to me.
"Can you please sit down?" I whispered feeling weak and tired. He smiled and perched on my bed.
"You had an operation, it'll be feeling numb, a piece of your rib barely missed your lung, we want to keep you in for at least a week and monitor the injuries and how they develop or get worse or better, most cases it's better." The doctor said. I laid back and looked out of the window. "Three people are here to see you, David, Jenny and Damien?"
"I'm tired." I stated.
"That will be the morphine and operation." The nurse chipped in. I closed my eyes and imagined a field full of butterflies who were free from pain and danger, getting to float between flowers. I sighed and relaxed a little.

I woke up to Jenny on her phone, Damien looking out of the window and David stood by the door. I winced and Jenny snapped her head up.
"Hey! You're alive." She shouted, I winced again. The early sun shone through the window.
"Hmm." I mumbled yawning and trying to sit up.
"Whoa, they put your painkillers down a little." I looked at the many machines, IV drip, morphine, ah, it had a setting. I tried reaching it, I couldn't, i forced myself to sit up, I felt a small tear which was probably part of my stitches.
"Bella." David said stopping me. I swatted his hand away and managed to turn up the morphine. I smiled and slipped back into a comfy position.
"Now we have to get the nurses." Jenny said pointing to my side, I was bleeding. Lovely. Damien pressed my buzzer and didn't say a word, he just stood back looking through the window. I looked down, I must have done something wrong.

Once I was sorted again, the doctors lowered the morphine slightly, not to as low as they did last time but told me off like I was some little kid.
"You lot don't need to be here, I have a plan." I lied. I needed a lot of support, all I wanted was a hug.
"Don't lie." David said.
"I'm not."
"You're a shit liar Grant." Jenny said sighing.
"Why did you run?" David asked.
"I saw a chance and took it, I was wrong."
"You should have just come to one of us." Jenny said looking at me, I wasn't sure whether she had sympathy, forgiveness or offering in her eyes.
"I've tried, I just ran and didn't want to look back." I admitted. "I'm never free from him." I just want to be free.

//Damien's POV//
I couldn't face Bella, she was so broken by Kyle, I should have saved her sooner! I should have dropped everything for this girl, even with no make up, pale and beaten, she looked beautiful. I couldn't wait to have Kyle put behind bars forever.
"We're off, I have a business to run and Jenny needs sleep." David announced. "Don't visit soon." Bella grumbled.
"I know you hate people seeing you at your weakest but Bella, let someone in." He kissed her forehead, Jenny hugged her and they left.

I turned, finally looking at her, the blonde haired beauty looked at me then looked away.
"Bella." I began walking towards the seat by her bed.
"Why are you still here? What about your business and-"
"Bella, I'm sorry, I should have dropped everything and saved you, I'm sorry I didn't and I'm sorry you got hurt." I apologised, she looked at me, her brown eyes searched mine.
"Damien, it isn't your fault, it's mine, I ran away and I deserved everything, every hit I got, I deserved it all." She said looking down and tears began rolling down her cheeks. I sat down on her bed next to her waist.
"None of it is your fault, he is a psychopath and you didn't deserve to be caught up in his twisted mind process, you're beautiful and intelligent and I think me and you should run away to New York, a fresh start, you can return here and we can go on holidays and do what a real couple should do, no more pain." I promised soothing her hair back. "I promise to keep you safe, I promise to love you."

To me, she would always be young and beautiful.
