It was about November when I moved from sunny Weather Island to damp Grass Island. I was famous, the number-one model on Weather Island. Sea-blue eyes, Blue Jay-blue hair, pale skin, Blue Jay wings, and a fashionista attitude was all I really needed. I was wearing a blue, spaghetti-strap dress, and my favorite leather jacket. As I walked around my new home, my middle sister crept up behind me.

"Nice place, huh?" she said, startling me.

"Ah!" I exclaimed, "Don't do that!"

"Sorry sis." she replied "But it is nice, right?"

"Uh... I guess, Car" I shrugged.

"Don't call me that!" she growled.

My middle sister's name is Cardinal. She is 15, one year younger than me. Her short, edgy, bright red hair framed her small, freckled face. Her light pink eyes glimmered in the slight sunshine that shone through the windows and the feathers on her red cardinal wings ruffled a bit in irritation.

"Sorry."

"It's okay." Cardinal said.

But I was worried about tomorrow. It was my first day at the Grass Island High School, and who knew how it would go?

"SISSY!" Sparrow yelled, running into my arms. Her small 6 year old frame launched itself at me. She glided through the air, her sparrow wings out and her long, straight, brown hair flew behind her. Her brown eyes sparkled as I caught her.

"Sparrow, you know better than that." Papa stated, firmly but jokingly at the same time. He set the boxes he was carrying down and wiped sweat from his forehead and took his glasses off, wiping the bridge of his nose as well. He fluttered his green, semi-translucent dragonfly wings to cool himself off. "Jay doesn't like little munchkins ruining her fabulous outfit. Isn't that right?"

"Sure." I said, giggling.

"James, could you please help me? I'm struggling." Mom said helplessly as she shot her humming bird wings out to her sides to keep her balance. I could barely see the top of the small woman's head, it was only a few strands of her golden hair above several small boxes. Papa chuckled and nodded.

"Of course Mai!" He said once he realized that she couldn't see him. "Bird, help your mother."

"Already on it, Pop." Blue Bird replied, carrying several large boxes psychically while snapping pictures of the house. He smiled crookedly as he reviewed his pictures. Running fingers through his green hair, he set the boxes down gently before making eye contact with me. "You could help too, J." His light green eyes shone softly in the sun.

"Ech. No. I'd rather choose my room, thanks." I made a face before walking up the large staircase. I could hear Papa and Bird chuckle behind me. I sighed as I explored the house. What am I gonna do?

The next day I got ready to go to school. I choose a diagonal cut dark blue shirt with mid-length sleeves, a black skirt, and sky blue leggings. Throwing on my black leather jacket and grabbing my gradient blue purse, I flew to the school. When I walked in the door to my classroom, the teacher took me to the front of the classroom.

"This is Blue Jay." the teacher said, "She will be joining our class."

"Hi." I said, unenthusiastic.

Then I took my seat, noticing a fairy with bird wings and brown hair sitting nearby. She sat with pride and several boys were staring, not paying attention to the class. I groaned internally, noticing that she might be competition.

Reading, language, science, and all my other classes went fine. But potions was my problem. Some jerk spilled his potion on me. And he didn't apologize! I was pissed, so, naturally, I set his butt on fire, but I got a detention. I sat through the punishment, suffering slightly. During detention, I got a call for a fashion modeling job. Shifting gears, I got out my notebook and drew several outfits up, deciding halfway through several that they wouldn't work. I decided on one by the end of the 'class', luckily. I smiled the entire way back to my house.
