Chapter 2: "Pretzel"

A few days have past since that first day and Jian was about ready to embark on a very bumpy rollercoaster ride through the first grading. He still haven't seen Pretzel personally because he was too focused on chatting her instead of checking her profile. He constantly checked the whole classroom, seeing if he would find that girl. Then it came to him that she had a surname (Seriously?).

Jian's adviser just arranged them alphabetically from B1 to the last number and G1 to the last number aswell. This gave Jian an advantage to find where Pretzel really is seated (YES!). He checked every column,

Then he started counting, "Column 3, column 4, column 5... oh my...", Jian whispered.

He finally saw her, clearly for the first time. She looked a bit different from all the girls he saw and met personally. She had a cute face (Oh really now?), a bit of a white complexion right there, her eyes were a bit small, she held an apricot-colored towel and dressed as the high school's main uniform. That's when he felt something different somewhere inside him. Jian found himself a new crush.

After school was done, he immediately went home and chatted Pretzel. He asked her is she was the one he saw with all those features.

Pretzel replied with a simple, "Yes, that's me. Haha. Which one are you again? I couldn't see from all the boys blocking the view haha."

Jian answered, "Well, I have a perfectly good view of you from the far left side, the 1st row haha. To be more accurate, he is the handsome fellow located at the 3rd seat :)".

"Ohh? Hahaha. I didn't see any handsome 'fellow' when I checked the room :)", laughingly replied by Pretzel.

"Ouch </3, that hit me right in the feels :'3", Jian replied pretending to be affected.

"Aww, its okay haha. I will see you tomorrow eventually. I got to go now, my Dad wants us to go visit our relatives. Byeee :)", as soon as she replied, she went offline.

This left Jian in his room to think. "Is this girl really that attractive? What is her attitude like personally? Will she be like the rest who would just forget about Jian after a short span of time? Is she the one Jian's been looking for the past 8 years that would meet his expectations? Has he waited for the right girl that he wanted to be with? Does becoming good friends with her can finally bring a smile to his face?". All those questions kept spinning around in his head and was constantly whispering in his ears. He thought about his past attempts to meet the right girl. He had alot of very gruesome experiences but that won't stop him from meeting a new one. He just hoped... that Pretzel is that girl he is looking for.

The next day, he let time pass by because some of the first subjects were his weaknesses. Filipino is surely one of the most difficult ones for Jian but he managed to pull through with a period ending, last-minute resort to pass his answer sheet. Second was Literature, one of his favorites. They talked about a brief summary on the origins of Greek Mythology wherein Jian was most excited about. He kept wishing back in summer that they would finally discuss about the Greek gods and godesses. And here he is now, locked and loaded, filled with alot of information about the Greeks and the Romans.

"Welp, that was fun.", sarcasticly said by Jian to Ryder.

"Really bro? You already know about Mythology? Damn, I'm gonna borrow some books from you later okay?" Ryder replied.

"Hahaha okay brooo." Jian said as he almost falls off his chair laughing.

SS was their next subject, but Jian was getting bored enough just waiting for Recess. He really wanted to talk to Pretzel personally. From his past experiences and his adaptive skill set (Coollll), he can easily identify people with only a single look. He can discern the good ones from the bad ones, the quiet ones from the noisy ones (Obviously), and the loyal ones from the untrustworthy ones (That's alot of ones hahaha).

"Recess!!!", yelled out loud by Jian's classmates.

"Ugghh, do I really have to approach her for this?", arrogantly said by Jian while being pushed by Ryder towards "the girl".

"Hey, you wanted to meet the girl personally, then go! For the most part, I ain't that much into women since Silena...-Oops.", Ryder replied.

"Whoa, who's Silena?", Jian now with a smirk in his face, trying to eliminate his nervousness.

"Just forget you heard anything. She is the reason I don't like women now, and I won't believe in love again. I will always be bitter!"

"Okayyy, couldya stop pushing me towards her please bruh."

"Just man up already and talk to her!"

What is he going to say? Can he muster up all his strength to approach this one girl? He collected his thoughts and went up to her. Every step, he could hear his heart pumping and feel like time is slowing down. And then all of sudden he was standing 2 feet behind her. He can smell her alluring perfume (Scented roses perhaps?). He went further closer and tapped her in the shoulder.

"H-hi Pretzel", Jian was so nervous that he almost dropped his bag of bread.

"Hello", Pretzel said in ease.

"I was wondering if we could hang around some time, you know..?", Jian asked.

"Sure, I gotta go now. Bye", Pretzel left the room to be with her friends. Surely Jian isn't familiar with her friends because they look like they came from a different school since Grade 7. They were all as tall as Jian or even taller than her, one being the tallest of their group, Pretzel as the middle one, Kathryn who's a clasmate of mine and she is the most skinniest of their group, one is a bit chubby but still looks pretty, and the other all bulky and buff.

That is Jian's problem about girls, some just take off before he can know about them. They immediately assume that he likes them thats why they leave instantly (even faster than instant food!). No matter how much experience he's gotten back from their recent vacation, it still doesn't matter because he is known for being a shy and quiet student. He has a quite low reputation from his other classmates so he still needs to earn some respect.

His problem now is on how he is going to get familiarized with Pretzel. She's just a normal girl he said before. Nothing about her is that over attractive but he feels that she stands out amongst the rest. He felt like even though she looks normal, she has that special trait that radiates inside of her. Hope, he hopes that if he becomes friends with Pretzel, he has a chance to finally experience being in a relationship... even just once.
