Prologue:
Alex's POV.
Today is the start of the last week of summer.
The week that needs to be legendary.
Last year I was suspended 5 times for "interrupting" the teacher and I ditched school 3 times. Ok maybe not interrupting, but more like dissing and maybe ditching school more than 3 times.
My best friend is Jamie Lee Lewis but I have any other friends Parker, Jason, and Phoenix. Last year Phoenix and me were a little more than friends, but after summer I'm not so sure. I hope that High School will be even more exciting than our fucked up Junior High. Where the principal smoked pot and tried to sell it to the staff and 8th graders.
Jamie's POV.
Last week of summer, God doesn't even know what Alex has planned. She's leader of the group. Every year we try and do something fun, but we try and top last year as we go. Last year we set off fireworks on the roof of the gym during Winter Formal and sold heroin to 6th graders. We did all this without getting caught.
Our group has 6 regulars and the rest just come and go. Alex is the leader, she tells us what we're doing next. Parker is the rich one, he gets all the money we need to continue our "games". Phoenix is the most badass guy in school (He owns a motorcycle). Jason is the smart one, he gets the best grades and practically does our homework, but he's still a badass. That's the gang I guess.
~Chapter 1~
Alex's POV.
I look down at the sole of my blue and white converse and under that the cement of my sidewalk. I was just a Jamie's house watching the movie called "Stand By Me". I don't know why I stopped, I'm only two doors away from my house. It just feels like something is wrong, but I don't know what it is. I decide to just go home and forget about it. I look to the end of the street as I walk past the last two houses. I feel like I could hear anything, a dog barking, crickets chirping and when I reach my doorstep it hits me. Every night my sis plays music at this time and right now I can't hear it. I slowly open the large wooden door to my house and step inside. I can't hear anything.
"Mom?... Chelsea?" I shout. No one answers. For the next 15 minutes I run around the house looking for them. After I decide that I should call the my sis from the home phone. She is the only one in the family that has a portable phone. I dial the numbers and it rings once or twice before she picks u.
"What do u want?"
"Hello to you too Chelsea, do you know where mom is?"
"Hum... She should be at home."
"I'm home and there is no one here except the damn cat."
"Don't try to be funny and go check the the garage?"
"Ok..."
"Don't call me back I'm at a party so try to leave me out of this." She rudely hangs up. I fucking hate my big sis, she couldn't care less.
I go and check the garage anyway. I see a dim light coming from under the garage door. I quickly open the door and there is my mom with a straw, sniffing up a white powder. Cocaine. My mom looks at me, but she could care less, exactly like my sister. I decide to leave. I run up the cheap carpet stairs to my room I take a pair of blue jeans and a warm hoodie, and a bunch of other stuff. I go into my sister's room and I glance around for any spare change. There on top of her dresser I see her wallet, my sister really is dumb. I grab it and find 16 bucks and some change. I'm about when I remember that I should probably leave a message for Jamie. I do so, and then I leave knowing exactly where I am headed.
