II
Life was a bitch. That was for sure. You agreed with that statement completely. Especially when your partner stabs you in the back and then runs off into the sunset. You would bristle at the mere thought of him. Anything that reminded you of him your jaw would automatically clench and an unextinguishable fire would ignite within you.
Revenge was burning with passion and you would take it no matter the cost. First however, you had to decide if you were going to sit tight and carry out your sentence like a good girl, or break out like a bad one. The annoying thing was you weren't exactly listening as the judge had droned on about your criminal acts against the law and jail sentence, you were too busy planning your ex comrade's death to care. So yes, in fact you had no idea how many years you had to spend in jail.
Although you had missed most of the judges words, you had listened to the part about the high security prison bit on Gran Pulse.
They had shipped you off in an airship and dropped you off at a bus pick up shelter, and now, you were on your way to 'Pulse High Security Prison'.
You had heard about it before, but had never dreamed that you would end up there until that bastard had betrayed you. Apparently it was unbreakable and impossible to get break into or out. On top of that, even if it were possible to break out of, it was centered in the middle of the Central Expanse, which was not only plagued with monsters and creatures, but was continuous miles of nothing but grass land.
To be honest you didn't care about that much. With your hood up and your head leant against a window you stared out into the strange landscape. You rather liked the view in fact.
The bus slowed to a halt signalling you had arrived. Not that you were very eager to jump out and skip to the front door. You begrudgingly picked up your bag filled with necessities (which sadly did not include your beloved butterfly knife) and took your time to walk down the aisle of the empty bus.
"Take your fucking time! I haven't got all day I have a job!" The driver yelled back at you. You snorted at him.
"Great career you've got there asshole." You shot back. Not that you had a good career path yourself though.
He jolted ready to come at you but one deadly look in your eye made him reconsider his actions.
You hopped off to see three men, two in suits and the other one on the right side wearing an armored uniform. You eyed the huge beauty on his back, a sword almost bigger than the wielder himself. Behind them was a car; probably to transport you the rest of the way.
The man who had stood in the middle approached you casually. You were surprised it wasn't with caution considering the reputation you carried.
"You are Miss (Surname), correct?" The brunette began.
You stared at him with cold eyes and a bored look, waiting for him to get the meaningless formalities over and done with.
He sighed when you didn't reply. The red head behind him let out a chuckle.
"I don't think the convicts like you very much, Raines." He said smiling at him. "Yet another who gives you the silent treatment."
The one the red head had called Raines seemingly ignored his comment and spoke to you again.
"Well Miss (Surname) if you would please come with us without resistance, it would be greatly appreciated." He said gesturing to the vehicle.
Again, without a word you obliged and followed him to the car. The soldier with the gigantic blade opened a back door for you, watching you closely in case you had any funny ideas.
Once in he slammed the door shut and got in the other side. The other two; the red head and Raines sat in the front.
The ride was silent, other than the red heads comments now and then. Reno, you found was his name. He even attempted to ask you a few questions which were answered with either silence or a cold stare, which he would merely chuckle at.
During the drive you would also catch Reno's glances at you through the rear view mirror. Did he have a problem or something?
After a while of the same endless but peaceful scenery, you neared your destination. In the distance a huge plain grey building appeared into sight. To describe it in a word, you would say that it looked threatening. bunches of barbed wire lined the top of the walled perimeter, and you weren't sure if they were bones or pale rocks that littered the bottom of the walls.
The gates were huge and solid metal, and opened with a loud groan as the car approached. Countless armed guards were stationed at the sides, on top of the walls and all around the buildings that were joined into one big building.
The car had to go through three iron barred gates before you had actually arrived at the entrance in a courtyard. Surprise surprise the courtyard was filled with guards, none of which had very friendly looks.
The thought had been bugging you for a while, and it got to the point that you actually decided to voice it.
"Who runs this place?" You questioned no one in particular as you took in your surroundings from within the car.
"It speaks!" Reno cheered, stepping out of the car. Raines did the same, opened your door and held it open for you. Well didn't you feel like a princess.
"The institute is actually run by three people," Raines informed you, actually sounding slightly happy that you had spoken. "Rufus ShinRa, Cid Aulstyne and Barthandelus. I work under Barthandelus, whereas Reno here, works under Rufus and Qator works under Cid. We three represent the leaders of this institute." He explained giving you a small smile.
I'm actually thinking of doing two versions of this story, one were you're a 'good girl' and carry out your sentence and one where you're a 'bad girl' and you don't carry out your sentence. The BOCs would be different in each one so for example, the 'good girl' version BOCs would be the prison guards/ keepers of the law/ people running the prison, and the 'bad girl' version BOCs would be the convicts. Obviously so you wouldn't have to read a similar story each book I would change the plot slightly....
What do you guys think? Yay or nay? -Rikki
