Things aren't as they seem

"No! Stop it!"
Staring into complete blindness, I have to rely on my other senses. How I got here is a mystery, but I'm going to have to investigate that later.
Sitting down with my arms grasping my knees for dear life, I feel something furry and delicate crawl up my leg. While I'm paralyzed in fear, it crawls across my back, circles around my neck, then chooses to settle around my right ear. I build up the courage to move my arms towards the figure. I stroke the nice clean fur and a long, bare tail. I let out a sigh of relief at the fact I have a little friend to keep me company. If only I could see their little face.
Slam!
A sound of which metal bars smashing together fills my ears.
Someone starts to shake me. Not violently but not with care either. My eyes open themselves to scan my room.
It was all just a realistic dream.
To my left I see my muted mother frowning at my act of oversleeping. I wave my eyes to my right and find my alarm clock. 8:45. School starts in 15 minutes
With sudden alertness, I skip my shower and go straight to breakfast. Scarfing down my muffins so fast I couldn't tell which flavor they were. After brushing my teeth and hair, I bolt out the door and sprint for the school. My first class isn't very far, so I know I'll make it in time.
At least that's what I thought before I lost my footing and fall face-first on the floor.
I'm quick to realize I'm back in that room. A replay of the scenes I saw last night took place. I expected a teacher or someone to come wake me up, but not a single person.
The slamming of metal fills my ears once again and I'm left there in the darkness. I try my hardest to see through the black but find nothing but wasted effort.
Ding ding ding dong
I seem to have slept the entire school day. Hopefully no one has noticed. I pick myself up from the floor and start my journey home. I feel myself rest on the sidewalk, drained of energy. My eyes close them self for just a second.
I'm in the room again!
A wave of questions pound in my mind. Why do I keep coming to this room? What is this room?
Before the chain of events replay, I let out a frustrated scream.
"Keep it quite!  The other inmates and guards are trying to sleep!" Calls out a man.
"Where am I? What am I doing here!?" I question out loud
With a semi-gentle voice, the man replies, "you've been here for three years now, I'm sure you'd know by now."
